IF ITS ONE OF THOSE SENSORS WOULD THE CHECK ENGINE COME ON?

  • Anonymous Jan 10, 2012

Not nessesarily, I had work done to my truck and when I got it back I started having the same trouble only when it rained. Both sensors were checked and were fine but a wire harness was pinched after maintenence was done. No check engine light came on.

run the fault codes . At the speed you mention and by letting of the power I suspect that it is an automatic transmission and it is shifting into over drive. It will do it again if you accelerate as it will be shifting out of OD

Have you checked to see if you have water in the oil? Could be a blown head gasket. check that then try your fuel filter.

Car jerks on freeway and engine shuts off.

It sounds like your Mass Air Flow Sensor is faulty. These sensors will normal show fault when cruising at highway speeds causing the vehicle to almost stall or stall. Replace the Mass Air Flow Sensor with a known good one and test drive the vehicle. This will most likely repair your concern.

if you don't have a gas cap on the car or if it is on too loosely then that is a possibility. Only other thing I could think of would be water in your fuel. You may try a bottle of "heat" (I think that is how you spell it) at your local auto parts store and chunk it in the gas can. if there were any problems with water that should be the cure.
