SOURCE: its a 2000 lancer

the problem will more than likely be the printed circuit board on the back of the instrument cluster. to remove this lower the steering wheel to its lowest position. there are 2 phillip head screw in the top of the surround remove these and pull surround out. there are 4 screw ,2 top and 2 bottom which hold the instrument cluster in place.remove and then pull the cluster toward you and out. I found the crack in mine to be on the long turn over section which turned out to be between the oil warning light and the hand brake warning light which in my case stopped working along with the tacho and speedo. I repaired the crack by scrapping off the lacquer coating and repairing the track with a circuitworks Conductive Pen - Micro Tip made by chemtronics and purchased from **** smiths ( fairly dear though aprox $40 ).

SOURCE: Fuel gauge not working

Normally I'd say the float/sending unit in the gas tank is the culprit, however the fact that your service engine light is involved requires further investigation, You need to hook up an obd2 reader to the interface mounted under your dashboard and see what it has to say, there might be a simple error code preventing your gauge from functioning. Many auto parts stores will do this for you for free...

SOURCE: Instrument Gauges (Fuel, Speedometer, etc.) No longer Light Up

Hi ahcobras. Did you check that the dimmer switch hasn't accidentaly been turned to the off position? You don't say what car it is on, but as it has cruise control, it probably has a dimmer switch! Instrument lights don't usually have a seperate fuse......

Sounds like you have a ground fault. I once had a car with a faulty ground wire on the headlight, when I put high beam on the speedo would jump to 170km/h and the indicators would glow dimly. Sure sounds like a similar ground fault to me, check all the ground straps, from the headlight or anywhere else you can think of.

I have a Fly 125. The speedometer and odometer have suddenly stopped working. This might be related to me replacing the headlamp bulb, but I can't be sure. Any help appreciated.

Hi, it could be the speedo cable has come lose when you replaced the headlamp. You will have to take it apart again to do this. Good luck.

I have a 1997 harley sportster 1200S XL and the speedometer doesn't work. It illuminates, but when I drive it it doesn't seem to move. I just got the bike at an auction so I am actually un-aware of it's...

It depends on which speedo you have, the electronic or the mechanical one. The lights in the speedo are simple illumination lights that are connected to the headlight. They have nothing to so with the operation of the speedo itself.

On the mechanical speedo, it is driven by a speedo drive unit on the front wheel with a cable running from the drive unit up to the backside of the speed. Look on the backside of the speedo and disconnect the cable. Raise the front wheel off the ground or tie the cable to the handlebars temporarily and ride the bike. The cable should turn. Use your fingers to put a little resistance on the cable, pinch it between your fingers and see if it slips and stops turning. If it does, you cable and possibly the drive unit is bad. If it continues to turn even against the resistance, likely you speedo is bad and must be replaced.

If your speed it an electronic unit, there is a sensor on the engine case back near the transmission part of the engine. You can remove this sensor and wipe it off in the event it might have a piece of metal on it or something. If that doesn't fix the problem, it could be either the sensor or the speedo. I do not know of a test of the sensor. Wished I could help more.

Replace Drive Belt & Maybe Clutch on a Piaggio Liberty 150cc

hi Wayne, the drive belt shouldnt be to hard to replace, just remember the order of disasambly and install it the same way. And for the clutch assembly it would be recommended that you use a service manual, but if you have atleast a bit of experience and common sense and patience you should be able to do it with a manual, that is if you have the correct tools, clutches usualy require a special tool to be able to separate it from the main shaft, also pay attention to the torque specs and order... wish you luck, Alex

I have a 03 vegas and the speedometer does not

It is the speedo sensor on the drive pully on the right side of your tranny box. If you look down in the pully area you will see a small little black cylinder abut 1 inch long. Take a metic socket loosen and remove. Brand new one is around $49 i think.
