Yzf 1000 wont start

When key is turn on the dash lights and all lights on bike work, turn signal, horn, battery is fully charged. When I push the start button nothing happens-no sound or nothing. Oil light and fuel light blink when I push the start button, but no clicking. Jump the selenoid, motor turns but will not start.

a jump box is nothing more then a battery with leads on it so where are you connecting it verses the new battery you put in the bike. that doesn't make since unless you are connecting the box right to the starter motor then it be constently running the motor untill you unhooked it. check all your fuses and examine all wire harnesses for damage, burns, or any mellting.

sounds to me that it could be a faulty wire....it may not be grounded right. follow the negative wire from the battery.check it and make sure the insulation is not cut anywhere.check that the wire on top of the starter is good and tight also.

SOURCE: 97 YAMAHA YZF 1000,wont start itself after bike is warm

Have you checked the ground lead?

Make sure it is clean, it runs down and bolts to the top right hand side of the crank case.

Sometimes what happens is, that lead gets grime on it, oil or corrosion.. and it doesn't make good contact. The lights, spark ETC load the crank case and frame full of DC.. when you shut the bike off the dc cant flow through the starter so it won't turn over.

after a while the dc trickles out it will let the bike start again.

Hope thats it and it works for you, good luck!!

P.S. how is he liking his ace?? Awsome bike, I have had mine since 1999, and it not about to go anywhere!!

2003 Yamaha YZF 1000 R1. The fan and horn do not work?

Test them both off the bike, wires and a battery. The fan will have a relay, and the horn (a car does) may as well. There is help in the link as well as the Service Manual

I have a 98 yzf1 bike was running been having issues wuth the fuse for the head light started bike today pulled down the drive way bike shut off turned the key off then back on n nothing no lights horn...

Hi, Sounds like you have a bad ignition switch. Also check alternator, so that battery is charging.
Do a test for me, start engine disconnect battery. If alternator is working you should have light and horn. Stop, engine reconnect battery. This will give you a better idea where the problem lies.
Good luck.

My bike starts great but when i turn my lights on deep or main my engine cut out !!! can any one help me

start the bike and hook up a volt meter, verify there is approx 14 volts going to battery. then turn on headlight or signal light or even pull in the break lever and see if you still get 14 volts. if not, voltage regulator may be bad.
