Contact me directly at [email protected] and I'll send you a scanned copy of the wiring diagram of your bike. You need to find your starter relay. There is a red wire that goes to it directly from the ignition switch. You need to check for voltage. Then there is another wire that comes from the start switch and a wire that goes to the backside of the starter. If you have a test light, find the single small green wire that plugs onto the backside of the starter. Put your test light into this wire, turn the ignition switch on, and press the start button. It should light the test light. If not, your problem is back up the line from there. If it does, your problem is in the starter. I've looked at the schematics and I can find no link between the headlight not working and starter not working. Have you checked the instrument lights and the tail light? Make sure you check the fuses using the test light. With the ignition switch on, they should have power on BOTH ends of the fuses.

Good Luck
Steve

are you refering to the exhaust restriction ( baffels) in the mufflers?

My sporty 883 2007 don't start when pushed the start button, it has all lights good. I have to pull the clutch lever and starts inmediatly. What can i do?

Evidently, Harley has added a safety switch to the clutch lever. The starter will not activate until the clutch lever is pulled in. Since I don't have a schematic for a bike this late, I can't tell for certain but that would be my guess. The owner's manual should tell you this.

I have a 1997 1200s it iS sputtering in the intake like backfireing, the spark plugs are clean no iol foul or wetness present. any suggestions please..

Had your bike sat a long time without being started? Been down real bumpy roads? I worked on a friends 1999 883 Sporty recently, it needed the carb rebuilt. I cleaned out all jets and passages, and float level was reset, it was out of adj.. Also, when diagnosing bike hard starting and backfiring out the air cleaner problem, I found the timing plate had losened up and the timing was off about 7 degrees which I adjusted back to spec before I rebuilt the carb. The plugs were also clean, not dry..Runs Good Now. The shop 1st looked at bike before I did, they said it was an Ignition problem and changed out the key switch which did Not solve problem.
