Starter location?

The "mechanic" who told you that is lying or stupid. Bikes come from the factory set to run properly, not miss and cut out. The first thing you need to do is find a different mechanic. I would try some different gasoline, perhaps add some "Seafoam", check the spark plugs and spark plug wires, and look for vacuum leaks. Good luck.

Passing lights. check all of the fuses, replace any fuse that's burned or cut in the middle. Flasher relay could also be the problem.

this is not true I am riding the same bike with the hardcrome 2 into one side burners and love the sound and the performance

When you get to the clock, push and hold the button. The hour will flash - bump the button to go up. To get to the minute, push and hold again to get to the minutes, bump to go up. This is the method for the few Yamahas I have messed with although I've never messed with this particular model - but it's worth a try..

Hold the select button for at least 2 seconds on the left side of your handlebars. The switch is on the backside of the controls.

Sounds like a defective lifter.
Should still be Under warranty. Take it back let them fix it.

Checking around I found this tidbit:

"turned out that I screwed up and overfilled the bike with oil, which apparently got aerated and managed to form an air bubble in one hydraulic lifter Tappety tap. Removing a half quart of oil or so made the problem go away."

Also read where there was a recall on these concerning the lifters.
Supports my theory it is possibly a defective part.

Since you only have 600 miles on the bike. This is the time to take it back to have the break in oil replaced. Have them check it.

This is a highly ill - eagle act to do. In the old days we would put an electric drill on the drive cable, but now they make them tamper proof so they only go one way. The bezels are crimped on so you can't get inside them. I expect modern one may be electronic. How will your insurance company know what mileage you have done? I have never known an insurance cancel or fine due to mileage. You should have just disconnected it when you got close to the limit. Buy a used one and use them for 6 months in turns. It isn't called a Magneto, that was for really old bikes. It is a 'stator'. First make sure that the new battery has been fully charged and is not defective. Next make sure that the proper voltage is reaching the started. You may have a bad post connection or loose connection at the starter. Try jumping you battery with another known good battery.

Make sure the fuel is getting to the valve and passing through it. Possible blockage in fuel line or in the tank.

Above the master cylinder on each brake.
