I have a 2004 vstar 1100 classic that backfires on

what you need to is pull a plug and see what it looks like this will tell what you need to do to your jetting. yes this could be a lean backfire it could also be fat. if your plugs are looking white your lean if they are back you fat. you need to get the bike fat before you lean it out. the first set in jetting is to get your bike to pull hard under full accl. once you have that then you can work out your idle. don't forget about your air/fuel screw. the air/fuel IS a part of everything from idle to full wide open. do you have pipes and a air filter? the best people to call is factory pro. they make jet kits and i have learned a lot from those kats.they know there poop and can get you set up right. remember to set your rear cyl just a little fatter then the front it will help with cooling. If you need more help please feel free to call me at the shop C.C. Motorsports (361) 885-7787
Good luck

Engine wont turn over at start

Hi, Do you have an alarm & Immobiliser fitted on your bike as these drain the battery on your bike very quickly? If so i would recommend removing your battery and fully charging it with a decent amp-age charger. If you have your garage attached to your house then i would definitely recommend purchasing a trickle charger and when not using your bike keep this plugged into the mains and you should not have this problem again. all motorbike shops sell these chargers If after this the battery goes flat again i would suggest purchasing a new battery. This is a common fault as most motorbikes sit in the garage through the winter months and if not kept on charge will deteriorate. Hope this helps.

This thing runs great but sometimes when i go

Suonds like the float level is high. Try cranking it without opening the throttle and see if that helps. If you can hear the engine trying to start, give it a blip.

When trying to start my V Star 1100 2004 it kick

THESE BIKES ARE EQUIPPED WITH A "ONEWAY" STARTER CLUTCH TO PREVENT ENGINE DAMAGE IN THE EVENT OF A MISFIRE AT STARTUP,"KICKBACK". AS FAR AS THE MISFIRE, I WOULD RECOMMEND CHANGING THE PLUGS TO BEGIN WITH. IF THE BIKE ISNT STOCK, I.E. PIPES ARE AIR CLEANERS, IT MAY ALSO NEED REJETTING IF IT HASNT BEEN DONE.

Clicking noise from rear wheel

Is your bike chain drive? It sound like you have a link in the chain hanging up. Check it and lube it.

CLUTCH problem

This is a problem that is very hard to solve on line... It could be human error.. But it could be because of power or carburation issues as well. Best thing I can tell you is to remove the spark plugs and tell me what color they are. Spark plugs are an excelent indicator of the true performance of the engine. Attach pictures of the porcilan and electrode area. This will help me determine if it is error or not.

Dj683 i installed bub pipes on my 2000 yamaha

I too had this popping back fire on my 2004 Yamaha 1100 custom.
Seems the AIS system is causing this.

This site has an excellent PDF file and instructions.
http://www.sloneservices.com/SilverBack/Other-Stuff/AIS%20Removal.pdf
There is also a simple way to block of the AIS without stripping it off the bike. Reversible too!
(Usually my first choice to see if the desired results are achieved.)

Good luck!
Loved my BUB pipes too!

My 2003 1100 just lost all power. no horn lights

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

A most likely possibility is the main fuse located inside the starter relay.  To locate the starter relay, follow the cable from the battery's + terminal; it would end up in 1 of the 2 erminals of the starter relay.  Beneath the rubber cap would be the main fuse.

Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.

Possible bad switch or loose connections to the switch. Fuse? Bad lamp? Try shorting the switch terminals together--light?

What is the available amperage for accessories?

In the past, many individuals with extra lighting (and I mean a lot of 'em) would simply wire another battery in parallel with the first one. That way you don't need to buy a higher amp, (more"$") alternator.

Yamaha V-Star 1100 backfires and will not run without choke on

Here are two solutions for you:
A - Take the carberator off and soak it in some good quality carb cleaner for about 1/2 an hour.  That should take care of any residue in the carbs.
B - Alternatively (and for the less technical minded) there is a great product called Sea Foam.  Try to find it at your local CSK auto/NAPA/Wal-Mart.  Pour a small amount (maybe 1/4 ounce) into each cylinder chamber (take out the spark plugs), try to pour a small amount into the carbs (a turkey baster works great for this), and pour the rest into the gas tank.  Let it sit for 5-10 minutes, then start it up.  *NOTE - the bike will start VERY hard at first until it burns through what's in the cylinders.  ALSO the fumes will be EXTREMELY strong and suffocating - make sure you do this OUTDOORS preferably, or at least in a VERY well ventilated area.
Good luck - I know how frustrating these things can be! :)
P.S. - I am a proud owner of a V-Star 1300 - great bikes! :)

Want to do my own maintenance; oil, brake fluid,

A factory service manual is worth the money if you want to be serious on repairs / rebuilding. I recomend the purchase. DO NOT get a Clymer, Haines, or any other manual that is not a FACTORY service manual. The factory manuals are much more detailed. There are no videos that I am aware of.

Do yourself a favor. Ride to a dealership and ask if they would go over the recommended owner maintenance with you. Have them show you how to do an oil change with a new filter, spark plug change, set the idle speed, Add water to the battery, clean the air filter, bleed the hydraulic systems, check the fuses, change headlight bulbs, adjust the chain, and lube the cables and chain. Purchase chain lube, oil, oil filter and spark plugs from them. Make friends with the dealer. Ask questions; how often?, what quantity?, how do I measure that?, what tells me I need to bring the bike in for maintenance or repairs? A good dealer will be happy to show you knowing you will get parts and supplies from them as well as have them do any major repairs.

Please take a moment to rate this answer. Thanks Louber!

My v-star 1100 has not been run in over a year.

This sounds to me like a carb float being stuck open. Turn off the gas and drain the offending carb(s). Next, turn the gas back on and sharply tap the float bowl with the plastic handle of a screwdriver as the fuel bowl refills. The goal here is to vibrate the float to free it up. If doing this process a couple of times does not free the float I would remove the carb(s) and clean with a spray carb cleaner. Clean the air filter then re-mount carb(s). Next, Remove the water trap bowl at the bottom of the petcock, (gas valve). Dump it, clean it and re-mount it, ( not all bikes have a water trap bowl ). Install an inline fuel filter.

2008 v star 1100 silverado how do i find out if the regulator is bab and is there a way to test itand what does bike do when regulator is bad

Below the battery panel is a frame panel, remove this and you'll be presented with the reg/rec... A good idea is to see if its earthed to the frame as this can cause problems ifs its broken or loose.
