the nombers on the eng r 2gv- 003902 im not shure how too tell so anny help here as I have rebildt it and it runs fine
Starts up but then it cuts out
you have a fuel delivery problem, check your fuel filter and also your gas cap to make sure the vent hole is not plugged, a good way to check the cap is to simply remove it and try running it that way, but my bet is on the fuel filter.
How do i get the sub tank off a virago 535 to respray it
Its Ben awhile but if I remember rt. remove the seat turn off the petcock valve and at the neck there is a cover made Of plastic that covers the bolt that goes through the tank mount from side to side. Remove that bolt and the tank will lift up it should have some rubber mounts that require a little tug to get the tank to come off but it's actually very easy don't forget to unhook the fuel lines from the petcock valve before you take it off
Why is my 535 virago not going on reserve tank
Apparently this is a common problem that I also have. Another website said that there is not a true reserve. This bike is designed to slow down the fuel pump when the reserve switch is on the "on" position and the fuel is low to give you the sense that you are running out of gas. My solution, reset the trip meter each time you get gas and make sure you fill up before reaching 100 miles.
I have 97 yamaha viagoro
Due to the fact that the problem appears to be related to changes in ambient temperature, check the coil for proper operation. Changes in temperature can effect a failing coil.
1999 yamaha xv 535 when you start the bike there
I have a 94 virago that had that problem last year. First, is your starter switch releasing all the way out? Mine was sticking. Also the regulator-rectifier needed replacing, as it was no longer damping the current, which leads to surges, especially when revved. If you have a manual it will tell you how to check the current running through the bike. Replacing the regulator is cheap and easy even for me with my limited bike knowledge! Hope this helps. Charlie.
Will not stayed cranked. changed out old fuel,
The Virago's have a tendency to clog up the carb. quickly due to sitting for a short amount of time, say a month or 2. Try and run some SEAFOAM in the carb. Remove the fuel line from the tank and force the seafoam into the carb with a turkey baster. Run the carb.s dry as best you can, force the seafoam into the carb. and let it sit for a day or so.Then try and start the bike off the seafoam, it will run and make a lot of smoke. Then hook the tank back up and see if that did the trick. Sometimes it will sometimes not, you may have to pull the carb.'s and clean them by removing the bowls and soaking them in a pan of the seafoam or something similar.
My Yamaha Virago runs great till the battery dies.
Sounds like you need to monitor what's going on at the battery. Hook up a volt meter to see if it's charging. Check and clean all connections / plugs. Check connections at key switch. Look over all wiring for shorts or broken wire. Disconnect everything but motor wiring to narrow down the problem. Starter drains battery faster than it can recharge.........
A dead battery will mess up a charging system and a bad charging system will kill a battery.
Yamaha Virago 535 Fuel Pump Dead
My first question: is it ok to run the bike using only gravity fed fuel if I'm ok with a top end of only 60 mph, or am I damaging something else on the bike by doing that?
To answer your it, you fuel pumps still works and you are not doing anymore harm than possible.
**My second question: is there a way around buying the $300+ fuel pump in order to get the bike running properly again?
YES, go to a bike dismantler/wrecker who does the same tipe of bike
***My third question: WHY DOES THE FUEL PUMP COST
$300+!!?!?!??!
Well, can not answer that because I don't know....
Good enough?
Yamaha virago 535 turn ignition on neutral light
These are known for starter problems... The clicking you hear is the relay but the bendix is locked up put it in about 3rd gear and rock it hard forward and back. Bendix may release. Make sure battery is good. As I said before these bike are well known for their starter problem and even after having it fixed by a dealer problem seems to show back up after a very short time. Good Luck!
Bike cuts off when clutch is engaged on down shift.
Did you run out of gas? I know it sounds like a stupid question but I have seen it happen before. If your getting fuel to the carbs then I would have to say check the carbs floats. They may be sticking shut.
95 virago 535 Clicks, but wont turn over
Hello, Check and make sure that battery has a full charge of at least 12.5 volts. If not Charge battery to that level. Next check all Grounds good to be sure not loose or corroded. If Battery is Ok and holds a charge and has been checked for a dead Cell and wiring is good Discounect the Wire going to starter and check the voltage it is getting when pushing the starter button. If getting 12 volts or higher then the Starter is the problem. If you get less than 12 volts or non at all the Starter Relay is bad! Replace it! To check the Starter before replacing it run a direct hot wire to the connection at the starter from a good hot battery! If it does Nothing then the starter is in need of work or replacement! First check out the starter brushes . Most of the time the problem is worn out brushes! If that is not the problem then it is either the rotor (Armature) or field coils in starter. REPLACE THE Starter! Hope that helps! NOTE: When running the direct hot wire from battery to starter make sure the bike is in Neutral and switch off! You do not want it the leave home without you! LOL!!
Faulty fuel pump on my virago 535
A low Universal Pump can be used! It must not exceed 3.0 PSI! I have used the ones from NAPA that are a 2.5 PSI Low Universal Fuel Pump! It will fill the float bowls up and then stop pumping. Your float needles have to be Good and working properly and float level set right at factory Specs. Any pump over 3.0 PSI will NOT Work as they will overfille the carbs and flood engine. Good float needles and seats can hold up to 3.25 PSI Fuel Pressure but anything over that will push them open and overfill the float bowl chambers which will flood the engine cylinders with Way To much Fuel! Hope that helps! Rick
Bike will click but not start
check all conections are good, make sure the battery is good with a multimeter as if it has been left in a uncharged state for ntoo long it is proberly knackered if all that is ok, tap the starter with something as it could be stuck.
