1991 Yamaha XV 535 Virago DX Questions & Answers
I have a 535 virago an no matter what we do it
Was kinda of curious, if you ever found the solution to your problem with you virago? Just bought one myself, first bike and after the second ride developed the same problem, I have heard and read about a few intances but all with different solutions, one as valve adjustment, another as needing a diaphram/ Any info copuld help.
My virago xv535 is having consistent charging
you will need a volt meter across the battery,
it should read around 12v with the engine stopped and rise to around 13-14v with the engine running.
If the reading doesnt rise when it starts, then it isnt charging and the regulator\rectifier is the next step.
If you are getting a voltage rise and turning the lights on stops the bike, then there may be a problem in the switches, on \off high \low
Top end rattle on 535 virago 1991 not tappets
if its not the tappets it is sadly proberly the small end bearing, check to see if there is play on the piston and change the bearing,it is quite a big job,but if you think you can do it but need a manual carlsalter.com has load of motorcycle manuals
Starter probs
Do you have spark? Be sure the kill switch is off. Be sure that bike is in neutral and the side stand is up. Check the fuses. Next check the wiring connections, color to color and tight connections? Did the starter button get unplugged? Do the button wires show continuity when the button is pressed?
Let me know what you find. Please rate this answer. Thanks!
Shocks
Just measure the distance (eye hole to eye hole centerline), measure the mounting hole/stud size, then approximate the overall weight and order some for an aftermarket co.
