Two things:- Did you dismantle the carbs totally means out of the rack?Did you replace the primary and secondary jets correclty? You might have swopped it thus it dies on acceleration and probabley too the flaot level are not correct in the float chambers. For more info visit www.xjbikes.com
#2 #4 cilinders not fireing
That's the same coil. Check that the coil has power to it while cranking. If it does, the coil's bad. If it doesn't, you have bigger issues.
I have a Yamaha XJ700X
You may have a air leak around the carbs either where they connect to the head or the air cleaner if it will run with the choke on you have a leak and it is trying to **** air
Bike wont start just quit
Push the starter button if your hear the solenoid clicking the starter button is good. If there is no click from the solenoid you may need to clean or replace the starter button.Follow the positive battery cable to the starter solenoid. Jump across the two cable terminals, this should activate the starter. If the starter works now you have burnt contacts inside the solenoid. replace the solenoid. If the starter does not turn over, try again tapping on the starter with a plastic hammer if the starter works now you need starter brushes. If the starter will not turn over with direct power (bench test) and the brushes are good the armature is probably shorted. You will have to replace the starter as an assembly parts are not available to rebuild the starter.
I replaced spark plugs on
Pull the plugs and reinstall caps and lay them so they are grounded and crank engine to verify that you are getting good spark on all 4 plugs. If ignition is fine, and you are reinstall plugs ensuring that the wires are attached to the correct spark plug. If you have no ignition...check out the interlocks sidestand switch, neutral switch etc
Has the bike been sitting quite a while with old fuel in carbs...they may be gummed up?
Where do the 2 fuel lines on back of carbs go
hi there,
the fuel overflowing on the carbs is due to floater malfunction or clogged. Dismantle the carb, open the the bottom half where the fuel reservoir is screwed and you'll see a fuel floater. Usually black and if you try to analyze how it moves, it blocks the small hole (where the fuel comes in) once it is up. YOu'll need to disassemble this first making sure how it was placed, clean the pin hole, clean the rubber pointed plugger and assemble it back.
Test it out first by blowing air and slowly elevating the floater, you shouldnt be able to blow air on it. If you are still able to, adjust the level by using a long nose plier.
Put the pieces back and install the carb. That should solve the leak.
Let me know if there are other problems,
please rate if this in any way helps,
