20 Most Recent 2007 Suzuki DR-Z 400 SM Questions & Answers

Hi, Bill_devere the vast majority of service, parts fiche, and owners manuals on the internet are "FREE" to download and all service manuals contain wiring diagrams in the back pages. The rest usually charge a modest fee of $15 and there is a handful of obscure, rare, obsolete, and very old models that are no longer or never were available and some were never printed in English. The Indian and Philippine markets are usually in E-book format only, for these rare occasions I shall look on eBay and find the cheapest one available. Most of the manuals will cover your exact make, model, and year otherwise one will be provided that comes as close as possible to your bike and will have most of the same info that an exact manual would have. If there is no $ sign after the manual link it is free to download.

The problem is probably you carb. float is sticking open, you need to check the float bowl to see if it has fluid inside the float, the float may have a crack in it ,if so you will need to replace with a new one. to get to the float you have to take the lower half of the carb apart,it should only take one screw to seperate it.

When not using your motorcycle on a regular basis, always put some fuel stabilizer in the gas. If the gas seems stale drain the tank and mix the old fuel with good fuel by in your automobile or lawnmower and burn it there (no waste). Put fresh fuel in the motorcycle tank. Try draining the carburetor bowl, pull the fuel line off at the tank, put a squirt of carburetor cleaner down the fuel line. Chevron Techron is an excellent fuel additive for cleaning up a gummy carburetor. Be sure and check the the spark plug in the motorcycle is sparking and not fouled. If you check the spark plug for spark right before you are going to try and start the bike, put an eye dropper full of gas into the spark plug hole right before you screw the plug in to prime the machine.

you may have bent , or just twisted in the housing one of the forks ,, check the alignment of each , if it just twisted loosen the bolts for the hold downs of the fork assembly and align, if its bent ,, you must replace it

Sorry to be the bringer of bad news, if the wire broke, you'll have to replace the entire speedometer sensor. It operates on a magnetic system that sends a signal to the relay (usually inside the headlight housing). The older direct drive cable system was more robust, but also more expensive to manufacture.

If google and manufacturer website are of no help then ask a search agency like http://manualfox.com - They do a great job.
The service is not for free, but often worthy (you only pay if they find what you are asking for).
