your cycle is quite different from a car in that the engine and trans(gears) are combined..so the same fluid lubricates and cools the bike....

being a v-twinn there are good oils out there today and much more inexpensive than before...
in fact many local auto stores and even discount stores have cycle oil...just make certain you get a quality brand like: valvoline,mobil,castrol and for your twinn i'd try a good 20w50.....check your manual for quantity and change the filter as well...some stores are even stocking cycle filters....

have you checked all your ground wires for good connections the coils and checked the stater

Check connections. Use volt meter to check if's getting power. If no power, check the fuse for the fuel pump. Could be a "fuel pump relay" if no power to the pump. Does it make any sound? If no sound, possible bad filter, or possibly bad fuel pump.

I'd bet a bad switch. You may be able to squirt wd-40 in the key opening, but disconnect the battery, operate the switch many times. Hopefully, the wd-40 will lubricate the switch and remove water and corrosion to the point of allowing to operate. Wd-40 is flammable, so wait for several hrs before reconnecting the battery and trying again to see if it operates properly. Otherwise, if it isn't working, you probably need a new switch. Double check your connections to and from the switch to make sure you have good connections.

You have a short circuit in the positive wire somewhere between the fuse box and the light. It apparently has a break in the insulation or a bare spot where the insulation has worn through allowing it to ground out somewhere along the way. The most likely point of damage is at the front fork.

Hi ...... Find where the battery is, under the seat or behind a side panel. Disconnect the black (negative lead usually with a 10mm spanner then disconect the red (positive) lead. The battery will be held in place with a 'rubber' strap or a bracket and depending on type of battery there may be a vent hose from the battery to the lower half of the bike, this just pulls off and remains in place until you replace the battery. Installation is reverse except you connect red (positive) first.

Hello, check your fuel filter, tank, hoses for presence of water. That's the most common problem, condens water freezing and thus clogging the fuel flow...

Insert your ignition key into lock and turn counterclockwise, raise the rear-end slide seat backward. That should do it.

Some of these have a turn on the ignition key that is just before the Acc that triggers a lock so the seat can be removed.

May not be getting enough fuel, check the filtre in the fuel tank, remove fuel ****,(fuel on/ fuel off/ reserve).( has rubber o ring type gasket), could also be a kink in the fuel line, check or replace spark plug's, you also may need to test your fuel pump with meter, check out intruder alert cafe, lot's of good advice there.

Yes, the oil reservior separates from the wheel assembly. Here is the whole process for removing the rear wheel assembly. In order to remove the rear wheel assembly, you are going to need a motorcycle lifting jack stand or similar device.

1. Stand the bike on the side stand

On the left side of the rear wheel:

2. Remove the two forward facing bolts.
3. Remove the allen head bolt with the wide head.

On the right side of the rear wheel:

4. Remove the brake adjuster nut on the end of the actuating lever.
5. Remove the Toque link nut at the bottom of the wheel assembly.
6. Remove the axle nut (castle nut and cotter pin). Move aside the now loose plastic former on the left side of the bike and remove the axle from that side. You will need to hold the castle nut while loosening the axle.

7. Place the motorcycle jack under the swing arm or chassis tubes to stabilize the rear end. Lift the motorcycle until the rear tire is just off the ground.
8. Remove the axle. When you remove the axle, the spacer under the left side cover will probably fall out.
9. Remove the three cap nuts (left side) and use a screwdriver to gently pry the wheel from the splined drive gear and place the wheel assembly on the ground.
10. Pull the wheel assembly rearward.

Reverse the process to replace the wheel. Check the level of the final drive oil and fill as needed with SAE90 hypoid gear oil with a GL-5 rating. While you have everything apart, you should also check the brake pads and wheel bearings for wear and replace if necessary. God Bless and good luck!

Hesitation, poor throttle, cutting out frequently.

check the neutral safety switch. usually a single wire going into your transmission and near the shift lever.

there are 2 bolts under the front area of the forward seat each side remove the 2 bolts lift the seat and forward to remove,then you will see 2 more bolts for the rear seat remove them slide the seat forward and remove it.

How are the fuses are they all good? Afterward check indivdual bulbs for shorts. Good enough?

No, but you may have to re rout your exhaust. You can also use a heat insulator if you think it is too close. Plastic can stand a lot more heat than you can. If your bags of preference cover your exhaust outlet, then you will have a problem, if they are over the exhaust, probly not so much of a problem. Look at the bags and how they mount, take some measurments and you'll be able to tell.

And you want to ruin your very expensive muffler because why, again, please tell me sir? Read to the end.

My friend, before we go any further, please understand that a motorcycle is a fully and completely balanced transportation system that has some customization potential. It is a finely tuned vehicle with which most of us should not mess with. Drilling holes in the muffler to make more noise will do lots more than annoy your neighbors, it will upset the delicate balance of your motorcycle respiration system. DON'T DO THIS, unless you are fully prepared to accept a unnecessary shortening of the life and usefulness of your Suzuki VS 800.

Now then, if you are not satisfied with the sound of your Suzuki, there are several after market solutions to this situation which have been developed by professional engineers trained to manufactur exhaust systems that will not damage your motorcycle. They are pretty easy to find if you will Google 'Suzuki exhaust systems'.
