1992 Suzuki GSX 600 F (Katana) - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
My 92 600 katana wont start. It wont even turn
If the clutch switch, the neutral safety switch, and the side stand switch are all working correctly, then test the starting system. When you push the starter button you should hear a click , so you know the button is working.Follow the positive battery cable to the starter solenoid. Disconnect the two wires that activate the solenoid, test the two wires from the harness make sure the needle on your voltage meter jumps when you push the starter button, this means the button is good. Take a wire and jump the two posts on the solenoid or touch the two cables together. If your starter works, then you need a new solenoid. If you hold the starter button and tap on the starter with a plastic hammer and the starter works you need new starter brushes. Anything else wrong with the starter and you need to replace the starter assembly , the manufacturer does not make replacement parts for the starter.

do you know which one is popped, and if you can see them one will have a raised top, this is the popped one, go to maplins ask if they can identify the poped one only a quid or so, they might even remove and refit new one for you, 20 min job.

Sounds like a bent shift fork to me. Not wanting to go into or between gears plus popping out of 2nd and making a knocking noise are classic symptoms.
Please rate this solution as a " FixYa " after the repair. Thanks!
Why is there no response from my starter?
have you tested the starter. that is the first thing to do. use a hot wire from the battery to the starter to make sure the start even works. then if its okay then either you have a bad wire or a bad switch. if the clutch is not pulled the starter wont work.. if the kickstand is down for some bikes it wont start.
I have a 1992 Suzuki GSX 600 F (Katana), Can I use a GSX R 750 top end on that 600 bottom end?
Well, yes and no. A person can do almost anything he wants, but is the cost worth the Gain? You'll need to have a connecting rod custom made as the crank journal is different. Deck clearance will be an issue too.
You can however use the 750 head which will bolt up and has better flow. A slim planing, and they respond well to a meager port and polish. On the intake side keep a satin finish and just clean it up, exhaust a little more aggressive, (shinier).
I have just replaced the petcock and now the
Hello,Generally speaking on Suzuki's, the yellow wire is +12vdc and Black is a ground wire. You should connect it to the closest frame connection. It also might appear that you have another wiring problem in that same area due to the no start issue. Make sure all wires in the immediate area where you were working are connected properly and none were forgotten! You should verify that the gas does flow freely from your repair as that also could cause the start issue if no gas is flowing!
Gsx750f will not run on tick over
1. check to see if Your getting spark to all cylinder, If not, check Your ignition module/coils for fault.2. check your fuel supply/ check fuel lines for a plug.3. check to see if your carbs are receiving fuel.4. check for clogged or very dirty jet ports5. check your fuel pump for proper functionality.A manual would do good towards troubleshooting this problem.
Gas in the oil
Your Carburetor float valve is not properly closing and is flooding raw fuel into the engine thru the intake, which also means your carbs over flow lines are not functional. This means your carbs are in serious need of a good cleaning and possibly a rebuild.
Old gas bike been setting for years
I would drain old gas, replace with good..old gas can gum up carbs, should drain bowls on carbs also, there should be a screw on bottom of carbs(dont remove screw just loosen till gas pores out)
Katana wont start
You're most likely looking at a dead battery (try jump leads)A bad starter relay (short out the terminals on top of the relay and see if it turns over)Or a dead starter motor (service or replace or if it's sticking try rocking backwards and forwards in gear to unstick)
I have a 1997 gsxr
Hi, you must look for a shorcircuit somewhere , maybe a ***** wire touching the frame.
also check for insulation of the starter conections.
Good luck
Just changed sparks plugs,and wires
I don't know much about those bikes because I don't own one, start taking pictures of whatever you take apart like I use to, WHY?, because then if you don't remember how it was mounted you can go back to the pic, it works for me. I try not to think that I know everything, it may cost me. Who told you to change the wires? You should had check the resistance on the old ones first, don't assume, that also will cost you. was it backfiring? cutting off when you had he bad gas? dying on U? I like to learn so keep me posted. Thank you and good luck.
