Battery charging problem
you don't say what the exact problem is or what you have already trouble shooted so here are a couple of things to try
1......use a multi-meter and with the bike running check to see what the voltage is at the battery should be between the 13.5 and 14.2 range
2.....check all cables and wires to be sure of tight and clean connections.
3 ....if this is the original battery it may be bad as most only last about 4 or 5 years, if it is a newer one it may still be bad and not holding a charge
hope this helps
My 2002 1500 Drifter has
There are only a few things that come to mind right away. If you are: making sure that green (nutral light) is on, and that your clutch leaver is all the way in before starting... then the reason the clutch is NOT fully disengaged is possibly one of these:
(1) If your clutch is opperated by cable, it may need to be tightened.
(2) If it's a hydralic clutch, either the fluid in the resevoir is low, cable needs agusted at the top or at the tranny, or the fluid is getting past the seal in the clutch master cylinder and is in need of a rebuild kit.
(3) The clutch discs are warn to the point where the clutch simply cannot be completely dissengaged any more (this is most noticed at start-up) because once the bike is warmed up it is not as likely to die at a stop light just because the clutch is catching a bit.
Most likely you need to put a kit in your clutch cylinder if the agustments don't work out. Hope I didn't miss anything... hope this is of some help :)
I GOT A 01 DRIFTER
The starter could be drawing too many amps, if thats the case it will need to be replaced. Also the solenoid. When you say there is "no spark" you mean the spark plugs are not firing? When the bike cranks it will not start?
Engine wont start, but there
better hav bike scanned cause this confuses me-somethin in wiring is out of wack--buy a repair manual for ur model from fixya etc
VN1500 HARD STARTING WHEN COLD ONCE IT STARTS IT
You might try changing the heat range of your plug. If it is carb. not FI you could get a manual and adjust the setting up a hair. Slightly, SlIgHtly more fuel at start up not a full turn or anything. Sometimes the slack on the throttle cable can help with this also. Again get yourself a manual and become a familar face at the dealership so you can ask your favorite buddy there questionsIt works I have learned alot by doing this
Kawasaki drifter 1500 engine does not stay
You don't mention which intake you have but you probably DO know that this motorcycle is Fuel Injected.
If you're using the stock intake, make sure the air filter is clean.
I'd also -highly- recommend that you clean the throttle bodies near where the butterflies are located. These are known to carbon up and the little ring of carbon around them impedes airflow.
Next (again if it's a stock intake setup) get yourself a can of Sea Foam and introfuce it into each throttle body per the instructions on the can.
I use a syringe and fire 10cc's directly into each TB, shut it off and let it sit for a ferw minutes.
Seafoam in the tank will help clean your injectors as well.
I always use it in higher concentrations then called for and the bikes always resond well to this treatment. Fact is, the bike would run just fine with only the seafoam in the tank,
Are you running an aftermarket FI controller?
These can be adjusted as well.
I own a 2005 Drifter 1500 and an 06 1500 Classic with 24000 and 51000 miles on them respectively. FINE MOTORCYCLES.
Rok.
Started to get hard to start then got worse over 3
You need a cheap multi meter, measure the resistance on the wires going to the switches, with the clutch in, and with the stand up the resistance should be very low, if it is high then that switch is the problem. Also check the earth (negative) from the battery to the frame, if this is corroded your bike will be hard to start
Water in oil
it will come out eventually it is condensation the only other way I have been able to remove it in the past is to drain the oil and take a heat gun or a blow dryer and use it to dry the condensation
How to test injectors

if you need more help you can get the service manual for the vn1500 im sure it will help you u can get it from the below link:http://goo.gl/j0P6YGood luck
We have a 1999 kewasaki
Hi,
These are usually mounted to the main frame or sub frame of the bike. The bracket which it is mounted or screwed into is just a small half channel bracket with a nut welded to the underside of it.
It has no specific name as it is part of the main bike frame/subframe.
I have a 2003 kawaski
it may be due to following reasons
oil level more than specified
high blow down gases due to weared out piston rings,do the compression test if the compression is less than the specified limit , go for one size bigger piston
How can i drain a
Well if you can remove the oil filter it will have about 1/2 quart or less in it.
1999 kawasaki Drifter.. I need
Hi, I had the same bike a few years back with the same problem. It was u-joints that were worn. When I pulled in the clutch, this removed torque to the rear wheels and less stress on the driveshaft, when you accelerate this placed enough torque to take up the play, therefor eliminating the vibration. These bikes did vibrate naturally, but not like you are describing and your symptoms lead me to believe the your drive shaft needs some attention. I'm also assuming the engine is running fine and not missing slightly. Just an educated guess at this point, but something to look at.
