Stop struggling, go to your Kawasaki shop and buy/order them.

If the rattle is coming from the barrel / head area then it may well be a worn piston, worn or damaged bore / rings.
The best way to investigate is to remove the exhaust, get under the bike & shine a torch up into the barrel
Both barrel & piston can be inspected by removing the spark plug & slowly actuating the kick-starter

Rattle generally means detonation, which will destroy your engine. How quickly that will happen depends on the severity of the detonation. You can cure detonation by retarding the timing, cooling the intake charge, using higher octane gas, or lowering your compression.

i am led to beleev that restricting a kmx is simply taking off the earth wire for the power valve if you could find a diagram of the pow val system or if you have the haynes manual then earth the pow val if the pow val is working then i cnt help gd luck m8

Maybe headgasket, butbbefore you disasemble the engine check the condition of he water pump,remove the cover and check the impellor has not parted from the shaft, if you can turn the impellor without the engine turning and the impellor doesnot turn when the engine is rotated this may be the fault, you could also check water circulation by starting the engine, may also be thermostat not opening, if you have already checked the above, it is a likely cause that pressure is leaking from the cylinder into the cooling system, ie head gasket, as previously stated only revert to this when all the other checks have been completed

It is running lean, you have a fuel delivery problem, plugged jet or vent in gas cap stopped up.

have you checked your idler screw on the side of the carb? if not it may be a blocked main jet, also check your air filter. try taking it out completely and running it. if it runs it may need replacing.

There might be a brass screw in the carburator you can start the engine and try tighting it and then unsrewing till you get proper amount of smoke.
