Hydro clutch

There is no adjustment on the hydraulic clutches...if it drags, bleed the system and check slave piston for leaks...if it slips, check that the piston in the slave isn't sticking...if that's ok check the friction plates for wear.

I want to know how to set my clutch on my 1983 GPZ1100

When you say set your clutch, what do you need to know? Are we talking about the clutch lever, if so here is what you will need. One nickel, place the nickel between the lever and perch. Adj cable out so when you pull on the lever you feel tension right as the nickel falls out. This amount of play will insure the plates are closing the whole away. If you need help on the other end of the cable please feel free to contact me M. Woodring

Have problems with the timing

Ciao Luciano.

Qua il manuale di servizio. Purtroppo e' in tedesco. E' l'unico disponibile.

Fitting clutch cable

Depending on the bike model you will need to get the tank off. Open the rear seat, unclip the front seat. Remove the pipes from the gas valve taking careful note of where they go. Unbolt the tank front and rear.(Some tanks only bolt at the rear and to remove you have to pick up the rear of the tank, then slide it bacward) At the gearbox end loosen the lock and adjusting nuts and unclip the cable. Take note of the cable routing. Route the new cable before removing the old one. Unhook the cable from the handlebar. If you have an adjustment nut at the handle bar end turn it in completely before adjusting the new cable. Take up the slack at the gearbox end and lock the nuts. Then do fine adjustments at the handlebar end.

1995 Kawasaki GPZ 1100 -

Because of the age I would carefully inspect the intake manifolds(rubber). At this age they tend to crack or separate from the metal flanges( air leaks). The o-rings that seal manifolds to the head may be cracked. Also spark plug caps contain resisters that corrode or burn out with age. Four NGK caps would only cost about $20. Check and make sure the air cleaner is not plugged or oil fouled. Many bikes have pollution tubes that fill with crud over time. If not emptied they back up into the air box. They are located in front of the rear wheel under the motor/air box. When you cleaned the carburetors did you take off the carb tops off and inspect the rubber diaphragms on the pistons for cracks or tears. These could certainly cause a problem if one or two of the pistons are not raising to let more air in when you open the throttle.

Is the removal and replacing

Removing the entire engine is not that difficult. The head pipes need to be removed; the gas tank, battery and air cleaner need to be removed; the electrical connections from the electrical harness need to be disconnected; and your should be left with two or four frame mounts to loosen the engine from the frame. Depending on whether your model has a chain or shaft drive it will need to be disconnected.

I would recommend the Kawasaki shop manual for the bike you own. The cost is worth the information you receive, from torque specs to tear down and rebuild - step by step.

Please rate this answer. Thank you.
