2004 Honda GL 1800 Gold Wing Questions & Answers
2004 Honda GL1800 Goldwing cooling fan not coming on
I'm not positive about this, but I believe the power to that fan is controlled by a fuse. You might check the fuses and make sure they are intact. Also, check the wire where it attaches to the fan terminal. It may have come loose.
Front suspension 2004 honda goldwing
The only common problem [that dealers deny] is front end wobble at slow speeds. Different reports peg it at between 32 and 42 mph - or somewhat near that.
You'll find lots of solutions posted on line.
Loading front tire to 41 psi got rid of most of it for me.
Blown seals suggests you're using your wing for a trail bike or you have some real problems. There could have been an event which caused it once, but if you fixed it, shouldn't repeat.
Transmision
start with a tranny flush and fluid change. but sounds like to me there are some wore parts hittin each other .
Need torque specs. for front wheel instalation.
You hold the axle with a screwdriver through the hole in the axle (left) and
apply the full torque to the axle bolt on the right (44 ftlb). Tighten the right
pinch bolts on the right - throttle - axle bolt side to 16 ftlb.... Then tighten the left - clutch -
shifter side to 16 ftlb.
This is the wing service manual procedure... i hope this helps FixYa!
My 1991 interstate front end
sounds like weak fork springs go to progressive springs and do the fork seals at the same time and that should stop the wobble, also check your local bike shop to see if the wheel is out of balance
Cb radio locked up in transmit mode
Just check any transmit buttons, or switches first. If that is ok, then the problem is in the radio, and must be fixed by a qualified technition.
There is no simple fix for this im afraid. The radio needs to be removed, and serviced.
You could try and disconect your battery for about 5 mins, this should clear any computer error's, and reset things, this may fix your problem.
The radio only working now & then, the LCD
Sounds like a loose connection on the ribbon cable or dirty pin connections where the faceplate and main deck connect. A heated or loose solder joint on capacitor or I/C can also do this but I would take faceplate off and clean connections with rubbing alcohol and cotton swab first, then check for any loose solder joints or bent connections
