2002 VTX 1800 backfires recelerating

If the bike is fuel injected, the module should fix it. If the bike is carbureted, you don't need the module but you will need to re-jet the carb to enrich the mix.

How do u adjust the idle on a fuel injected vtx

should be an adjuster between the cylinders. Looks like a threaded knob. Sometimes you have to pull it out a little first.

Enging running rough changed sprk plugs still

You may have a bad spark plug wire or a faulty ignition coil. Use an oli car spark plug wire to run a test case to see if this resolves the problem. If only on one cylinder, trace the wire back to the coil and have it tested or replaced. Good luck

I am not sure it is a fuel pump problem but assume

I would check the electrical feed to the pump. A messy dangerous business to work on as it will pump fuel everywhere if you are not carefull
Hope it isn't the pump!!

Honda vtx 1800 r.

Hi and welcome to FixYa!

Looks like the ignition coil is worn out. It starts good on cold for the ignition coil is not forced yet and when the engine is warm it fails to start for the coil is hot. I believe that once the ignition coil is replaced you'll be good.

Hope this helps and thank you for using Fixya! Have a good one!

Radiator sounds like its bubbling how can I put

Locate the radiator cap under the left side of the tank , or under the left side cover, and add 50/50 non-silica formula antifreeze there. Then top off the overflow bottle down by your left foot to the high mark. The fill cap for the over flow bottle should close to the radiator cap(within a foot).

Starter wont turn

Push the starter button , if the solenoid clicks the button is good. If not check the button for continuity. Follow the positive battery cable to the solenoid. Jump the solenoid posts, if the starter works , you need a new solenoid. If you hold the starter button and tap on the starter with a plastic hammer, and the starter works, you need starter brushes. If you open the starter and the armature is shorted or the coils are grounded or burnt, replace the starter assembly.

2004 - Bike ran fine

Hook it back up to the computer and reprogram the power curves. Reprogram it the same, you may just have developed a small glitch that came on all by itself. Also check the website on line in case someone has a better map available to try. Be sure to account for all changes you made to the stock set up.

2002 vtx 1800.want to run single front brake.where

the easeist way is to make a junction on the brake line so the 1 line hooks to both hose fittings. this will do what you want and you don't have to come up with some kind of cap to cap off the unused hook up.

I have a honda vtx

You might have to drain the fuel tank and check inside for possible contamination, try to pull the tank off, remove the seat and study how it is attached to the frame, sometimes the interior of the tank starts to flake off.
I believe due to gravity feed to the carb, they may incorporate a filter screen in the line coming out of the tank, once you pull the tank you will have a better idea.

Can a gas tank that is dented be fixed

Its not recomended but it can be done if you drill a hole in the middle of the dent then use a puller to pull the dent out. then you will have to spot weld the hole you drilled grind it flat lay a coat of bondo on it sand it smooth then get it repainted. Ur better off just leaving it and make up a good story on how the dent got ther

What engine exept vtx 1800 fits on my custom frame with same size

If you have a custom frame you could probably put about any engine on earth in there provided that it actually fits. If you want simplicity HD, Revtech, and Ultima are all "Harley Clones" and there is a never ending aftermarket for them. Lots of options for transmissions, accessories, power level, etc.

The VTX1800 engine on the other hand puts out just as much (or more) power and has something that the HD engines don't: A reliable track record. Down side to the VTX engine is that it is electronic and liquid cooled adding a lot of complexity to the build but if you're up to the task it'll be worth it. With the VTX you're pretty much stuck with the transmission Honda bolted to it, which is a shaft drive.

If you use an "HD" type engine it'll look classic, the sound will be un-matched, and when you're broke down on the side of the road it'll look freaking sweet for the other gawkers who are trying to help you figure out where the oil is squirting out.

If you use the VTX engine, likely you'll be the only one who'll ever know it's not an actual "Harley" type engine and it'll run to the end of the earth and back a thousand times without issue.

For the record I actually OWN a '96 Harley Davidson so I have an idea of what to expect.....they ****. If you can figure out how to use the VTX engine go for it.
