Xr600r is hard starting when cold.

Your description makes it sound like it's running lean, not rich. A general setting for all pilot screws is one and a quarter to one and a half turns open.....not necessarily for that model. Do you turn on the choke when it's cold? Is the choke working correctly?

Yes. you won't be able to get it registered unless that is corrected. The DMV is strict on this. Take it back and have the original owner get it corrected. Call your local DMV I will bet they say the same.

Not unless you change engines to one that already has an electric starter. A 1986 bike is not worth what it would cost. The frame would need to be altered for the new engine to fit. Please rate my answer. Thanks.

I have a Honda XR 600 R and i need to know where

10w40 API SE or SF and higher, my manual for the 600 then has a typo and lists 1litre for an xr100, but I remember it is about 1.5 litres. It goes into the dipstick hole, you will need a small funnel. Get your oil from a bike shop, or auto store, but make sure is says suitable for 4 stroke motorcycles, as car oils have friction modifiers that will cause clutch slip. Good bikes but a little heavy in tight stuff compared to wr's etc

Definately collectable. It would greatly depend on if someone needed that piece badly. If someone wanted to purchase a new one from a site like bikebandit it would cost $525.00 dollars plus shipping. I can't imagine they sell that many though. Check ebay. I don't believe those endurance meters are model specifc. I have one on my 85 xr350. I hope that answers your question.

Have juice to the coil, but no fire.

There's no oil sensor on your XR600's engine. If you aren't getting spark at the spark plug, check all of the bike's electrical connections for corrosion. Physically unplug each one and look for discoloration, melted connectors, etc., and scrape away any corrosion. Spray each with some WD-40 upon reassembly. Eliminate the kill button as a culprit by leaving it unplugged and check for spark.
If this fails to cure the problem, then one of the components that make up the ignition system are bad: CDI unit, pulse generator, alternator, or ignition coil.

Replace connecting rod on crank

Very big job, you have to take the engine out of the bike and take it all apart making sure you remember where everything goes when it is time to put it back together, It maybe a better idea if you take it to a shop for fixing

Honda xr600r cutting out at 3/4 & full throttle

when you put on a new air filter you have to rejet the carb in order for the air/fuel mixture to be correct, because with a aftermarket air filter it is allowing more air in than before and not enough fuel. as the piston speeds up upon exceleration the air is not getting burnt off into exhaust because you do not have enough fuel in the mix

The taillight and headlights blow

The charging system is over charging or you are putting the wrong replacement bulb in. My first thought is that the rectifier has burned out or somehow other malfunction. You will also need to check the battery as a malfunction in the rectifier will over charge the battery and actually boil the liquid (acid) out of it.

Dear expert, I just bought

Hi,

Carburettors are notoriously difficult things to balance without the correct tools. I could not advise that you attempt to try this yourself as there are too many possible variations on the fuel mix and manifold vacuum pressure in the carbs.

The only way to balance carbs properly is to use a mercury manometer. The manometer measures intake manifold vacuume pressure and this tool is specifically designed to set the carbs properly. This will have a major effect on the overall performance of your bike.

Take your xr600 to a proper tuning shop and for a small fee they will set the carbs up properly for you. You will notice a major improvement in the bike and you will definitely not regret it!

Please remember to rate my answer through our rating system. Many thanks for using FixYa.
