No, you must remove the outer primary, the clutch assembly, primary chain and adjuster, the compensator sprocket, the starter, the inner primary, the rear wheel and the swing arm to change the final drive belt. It's a major job.

Take the nut off the rear axle and remove the axle. You may have to remove part of the exhaust system to get the axle out. You also may have to change the axle adjustments to loosen the final drive belt. Make notes of where the various spacers go and in what direction they go in. Raise the rear end of the bike up high enough to get the wheel out from under the bike.

Are you talking about the "key FOB" when you say Key pad? if so, you may need to replace the battery in the FOB. If that doesn't work, you'll probably have to go to the dealer to see how to over-ride the security system.

Check the chrome cover over the coil. I've seen them get loose and fall down on the coil shorting the power lead to the coil. The problem could be anywhere and this is just a guess. I've seen this before.

yeah, that's what I was talking about. No pink wire on the later models but I'm sure they've got a wire for the tach on some the models that come with them. If you had a wiring diagram for one of those it would tell you what color they use now. But, if you only have one wire coming off the coil, that means there isn't another wire for a tach, Uhh. I wonder if the later models get the trigger off the crank sensor or maybe out of the ignition unit rather than the coil.
