Starter spins but won't engage
The starter on your bike uses a solenoid that also manually engages the starter gear. Try lubricating the solenoid mechanism and verify that the mechanism does not bind or stick. Once you have the mechanism freed up, check the starter again. If it does not engage, replace the solenoid (or, while you're at it, just replace the entire starter assembly).
When I press the start button the starter turns
The gear is probably engaging the ring gear but it isn't turning the engine over. The "over running clutch" or "starter clutch" inside the starter is probably bad. You can replace just this part and it's cheaper than buying a new starter. But, only if you can do the work yourself. If you have to pay someone to do the job, the additional time required to disassemble and replace the clutch in starter will quickly eat up any savings you might have realized. If you're going to have to pay someone to do the work, just replace the entire starter. But, you can talk to the mechanic about this and see what the difference in price would be.

Good luck

When bike is sitting up
I would say you have problem in the tank with the fuel pump line. When you lean the bike on the kickstand all the fuel goes to the left side an covers the line which then creates enough fuel pressure to run the bike. If you filled the tank full it would probably run ok until the fuel level gets below the bad line.
Oil indicator light stayed on. Changed oil
Doesn't sound good. The section just below the carb is the cam chest and that's where the oil pump is located. I'd go in there to check it out if you have the tools and the experience. If not, take it to someone that does have the experience. If you don't have any oil pressure on the engine, the tappets will rattle loudly.
Good Luck
Steve
There is a line (rubber covered with fitting on
Sounds like a vacuum line. If the bike runs without it with no problems, you can tie the line up, and plug it - however, I suggest trying to reconnect it to prevent further issues - as a broken vacuum may cause lack of power do to the lack of proper vacuum.
If it comes of the carburator, it most likely is one (if more than one, should only be one or two for this size engine) that connects to the airfilter housing, or to the back side of the carborator.

the float for the fuel sending unit is more then likely hung up on the inside of the fuel tank, common problem, youll need to remove the speedometer housing on the tank and then remove the flat panel in the middle of the tank. lift up gently and look with a flashlight, youll see the float simply and gently bend (very little) the float rod so that the float dont hit the side of the tank and also look and make sure no hoses are in the way
Using my front brake lever,my brake feels tight
If I understand you, you are saying that after using the front brake a bit, the lever does not move as far and your front brake light won't work.
If so, there is no adjustment on the brake light switch per se, but you can loosen the bolts on the master cylinder and move it slightly away from the right switch housing. Move the master cylinder just slighty towards the center of the handlebars. The brake light switch in the front of the switch housing. When you pull the lever, the switch moves out and turns on the light. You shouldn't have to move it more than about an 1/8" or so. Try that.
Good Luck, Steve
