My son bought a 2009 fat boy and I just noticed
Usually when the brake light stays on, it\'s the front brake switch that is bad.It usually gets damaged if the front master cylinder is installed incorrectly, breaking off the little bit that works off the brake lever.A quick test is to unsolder the switch, and touch/untouch the two wires and see if the brake light functions (goes off/on).

2001 Harley Davidson FLSTC Heritage Softail Classic Security Alarm
yes... have seen this before....find the alarm box. undo the clip, open it up, and replace the 9 volt battery inside...you should be fine after that. note...mine vwas a 2005 flstni... the box is under the rear fender at the back of the motor. there is a plastic cover there and the box is under it. had to put bike on a jack to have enough room to get in there

Starter zings after stopping for a while.
While you are turning the key to the start position get someone to tap gently on the solenoid with a hammer. The solenoid is the small round unit mounted on the starter. If this doesn't get the solenoid to engage you may have to replace the unit.

Exploded diagram of a harley davidson 80 cubic
Steven, I am assuming that your Road King is fuel injected. If so here's where you can find a clear and straight forward wiring diagram. Obviously this diagram stops at the ECM (Electronic Control Mondule) and if that got damaged due to a short, improper ground or power surge then the ECM may need to be replaced to get your bike fully functional again, however that's probably the worst case. Here's the link:http://www.nightrider.com/biketech/motorcycle_efi_basics.htm

91Harley FLH, OIL pouring out of breather tube . Whats problem?
Has the bike been sitting for a while? If so, I may have "sumped". This means that oil from the oil tank flowed past the check ball in the oil pump and flowed into the bottom of the crankcase. If the oil level is low, there is a good chance this is what happened. Only way to get the oil out of the crankcase is to run the bike until all the oil is pumped out thru the breather. Place a pan under the breather hose to catch the oil. Eieset way to solve this problem in the future is to place a clamp on the feel line that goes from the oil tank to the pump. Don't run the bike with the clamp in place! Hope this helps.

How to take a starter off a 1995 Harley Davidson heritage softail
Remove the primary cover. Remove the small bolt at the end of the starter. From the right side of the bike, remove the two bolts holding the starter to the back side of the primary housing. This job is much easier if you remove the oil tank to get at the starter bolts, but I have done it with the oil tank in place, by using long ball allen wrenches. Always replace the locking tabs at the end of the starter when replacing the starter, or removing it from the bike for any reason,
