1997 harley heritage runnig rich
Take it back to the harley mechanic. Check for dirty air filter, I'm assuming you have aftermarket pipes? The pipe manufacturer should be able to tell you the correct jet and other possible considerations.

Runs rough
Probably wired in to the timing circuit. Try putting a resistor in there. Electronic ignition? Very temperamental about total resistance.

How to slow fast idle on carburated 88 vtwin 2000 harley davidson?
Mine does that too. If you lower the idle it will then be too slow when the engine is cool. You might be able to lower the idle just a bit but don\'t go too far. Slow idle is hard on the connecting rods. Look at the carburetor. where the cables come down to the carb there is a small screw that you can turn to make adjustments. I would only turn in COUNTER clockwise 1/2 turn to begin with. If it idles too slow when cool you could always pull the choke out a bit but that can be a nuisance. Try that to see if it helps.

Test speed sensor 2000 softail
Speed sensor? It's a gear on the front wheel. It spins, that spins a cable, the cable spins the speedometer. Chances are, if there's a problem, the cable is broken.

What kind of spark plugs do i use for 1999 harley fatboy
I have used Champion RN12YC since my Harley was new in 2000. They have been completely trustworthy. I check them every 5,000 miles to see how they look. I clean them if they are not burned and reuse them. I replace them at 10,000 no matter what they look like. I do keep an extra set in the saddle bags just in case one should have a failure, and who knows, someday a buddy might need one.
Gap those at .038, apply locktite anti seize to the threads, and torque to 15 lbs.
Ride safe, ride longer.

Replace petcock in 2000 heritage
I replaced the factory petcock on my 2000 FXDWG due to a friend having his stop working. The factory one is vacuum operated. If the diaphragm leaks it won't let fuel go to the engine.
You will probably have a bit of fuel leak during this so don't do it near any source of flame or ignition. Keep rags or an old towel handy and I recommend a fire extinguisher just to be safe.
Just drain the tank thoroughly into a container you can seal like a regular gas can, not an open pail. An open pail will allow gas fumes to spread out and they can be deadly. Turn the valve to off, and remove the hoses.
One for the gas and one for the vacuum.
Remove the factory petcock by turning the large nut that pinches it to the tank. Now you can slip it down out of the tank. There is bound to be some gas dripping off the strainer so expect it.
If you are replacing it with another factory petcock just do everything in reverse making certain the hoses have a good seal.
If you are installing a manual valve without the vacuum function, you will need to plug the vacuum hose or the engine could run lean and overheat. Make sure that new valve has a fuel strainer on it to prevent junk from going to the carburetor.
I recommend putting only about a gallon of gas in to check for leaks. If all is well, fill it up and go for a ride.
Note: If the reserve tube is shorter than the one on the factory valve you will not have as much fuel in the tank when you have to switch to reserve. That happened to me. My factory valve would make me switch to reserve when I had about 30 miles worth of fuel left in the tank. The new one would only leave me about 20. So beware of that until you learn where it hits reserve.

My brake lights dont work but when I press hand brake, the running lights all dim and then trips the relay.brake light bulb is good.Any thoughts
You definitely have a short somewhere that is pulling so much power it trips the relay. The only way to find it would be to follow the wires all the way through the harness. Look for pinching or any abrasion that indicates the wire has been rubbing on something.
Wait, if it does not happen when you press the rear brake, that would indicate the problem is only with the front hand brake circuit.
If you changed the bulb before this started, pull the bulb out and reinsert it making very certain it is in correctly. See if that fixes it.
Hope that takes care of it. Electric shorts can be a real problem to find.
