1996 883 harley clutch replacement
You put the spring plate on first (after putting on all the clutch disks) with it being held in the compressed state. Then you insert the snap ring into the grooves in the center of the clutch. Then you can re leave the pressure of the compressed spring plate. The snap ring is used to keep the spring plate under pressure at all times in normal operation.

I have a 1990 sportster 1200. I changed the handle
The wires got pinched under the seat frame or towards the Handel bars.Under the seat there are relays .Take the seat off and turn the ignition on and inspect the relay , which ever is making the clicking noise. Also inspect the head light and tail light wiring, may be any of them getting loose or flickered, due to this its flashing.----------If the breakers are not resetting, maybe you still have a grounded wire? The breakers are located under the seat to the rear. Also, have you checked the cut-off switch on the right handlebar? Maybe that wire is open or grounded(or the switch is off--it happens).----------
-----------
But if all checked ok, then this clicking noise which you hear is shorting starter relay. This relay is located under the seat. Its not a costly relay, and easy to replace an easily available at local auto part store.------
Replacing this relay should help.----------- Thanks.Helpmech.

Trying to take out my clutch cable to replace the
You have to take the small plate at the clutch off. Remove the plate and take the spring and locknut out. Inside you'll see a screwdriver slot. Turn this screw clockwise while gently pulling on the primary cover. If all the screws are out of the primary case it will come off as you turn the screw out. You'll have to turn the screw the other way to get it back on.
Good Luck

Remove 1995 sportster seat
Providing that it is a stock seat, remove the screw at the back of the seat, (in the center of the fender), lift the rear of the seat and pull the seat towards the rear of the bike.

How do u change oil on a 1993 883 sportster?
Look on the left side of the bike just below the battery. You'll see a hose that either has a plug in it or one that is plugged onto the frame. Take this hose lose and the oil will drain. Refill with three quarts of 20W50 oil that meets H-D specs.

1996 hd 1200 sportster custom, need to re install
If the timing cup has been taken off the end of the camshaft, you need to reinstall that. There is an alignment tab on the end of the cam that positions the cup on the end of the cam as it should be. Use a drop of Loctite #242 (medium blue) on the bolt and torque it to.75-80 INCH pounds.
Now, install the timing plate so that the stand off bolts are near the center of their slots. There is a "V" cut in the plate and there are some slots in the timer cavity in which you use a screwdriver to move the plate. Align the "V" with these slots.
Now, you must set the advanced timing using a strobe light. Remove the plug from the timing hole on the right side of the engine. Connect the timing light to the front cylinder. Start the engine and bring it to a high idle. Shine the light in the hole and adjust the sensor plate until you see the "o" timing mark in the hole. Caution, crankcase pressure will blow an oil mist out of the hole under high pressure. Do not get your eye in front of the hole, stand back and off to the side or purchase a clear timing plug from either a dealer or an aftermarket shop.
Good Luck

I have an 1996 883 roadster it will start up with
when you say it "cuts out" are you talking about the engine stalls and quits running? If so, I would suspect a fuel problem. Your bike came from the factory with a vacuum operated petcock. 1996 was the first year and they were notorious for giving problems. You'll need to disconnect the vacuum line on the backside of the petcock and use a hand operated vacuum pump to check the petcock to see if it's working properly. When you apply the vacuum, you should get full fuel flow.
If not, you need to drain the tank and remove the petcock. At his point, I'd replace it with a high quality manual petcock like a Pingle. But, if you wish to use your original, take the four screws out of the back of the petcock. Take the plate, spring diaphragm, and needle valve out. Gently stretch the diaphragm while holding it up to the light to look for a hole in it. Replace the diaphragm if necessary.
good Luck

I have a 97' 1200 sportster hugger. I put a new
I'd still take the battery out and take it to an automotive parts house. Ask them to load test the battery. It sounds like the battery has a bad internal connection. A battery is made up of six two-volt cells. The cells are connected together internally and i've seen these connections go bad.
If the battery does test good, make sure all your connections at the battery are good. Make sure the wires at the battery are good. Acid can get inside the insulation of a wire and eat the wire out leaving the insulation intact. Bend the wire a bit and "feel" of it inside the insulation.
Good Luck
