make sure:
*bike and tools are at room temperature when you measure
*bike is at top dead center compression TDCC
*oil pump is still working
*Place a screwdriver or thesiscope up to different parts of the engine and place your ear on the handle to verify the loudest part of the engine noise is the head, it could be chain tensioner issue.
Possibilities:
valve was bent
lack of lubrication
valve guides worn beyond wear (if air filter was removed or not cared for properly it could shorten the life of the valves and/or valve guides)
Reluctant gas cap
It is a problem the plastic swells and gets trapped under the lip of the tank. There is a later cap that will fit that has a metal part instead of plastic
Alarm sounds on arming Cyclone V2
Has the alarm been changed ? Wrong part? The blue wire can be attached to a switch if you do not want this feature but the ecu will send codes to the module causing more problems .
Voltage unstable - need help analyzing
but lately it has been more varied. Basically voltage is low at start-up (typ. 11-12V) and it doesn't increase with engine rpm. But switching the lights off for a few seconds always brings the voltage up to a higher level (13-14V) it only falls slightly when the lights are turned on again.
It then (usually) sinks slowly and lights off-on will (usually) bring it back up again.
Does this behaviour indicate where the fault is?,Sounds like the battery is on the way out.,,,
New bike
as I muck around with the old ones this one is a modern bike in my terms cruiser & sedate parked up beside the B & B Guzzi Racebike!! I'm flat out working the dizzy out on the racer with electronic ignition so now I'm looking at getting some help dealing with the newy. The pipes are standard ( no sound sir) what I'm looking at is getting some louder pipes & I think make it breath a bit better with new pipes! saying this it has a junction thingy pipe under the gearbox which has had it's day big ugly thing!! what's my concerns are replacing the pipes getting rid of the pipes & ugly bits & having a half decent sound it has a computer I suppose & after reading the forums here maybe a updated ECU ?? for the pipe change also I'll get onto Cliff & see if he can suggest something whatever, has anyone done this sort of thing & tell me the pros & cons new chip, black box, ECU or can I get away with throwing on the pipes & suck & seeing?? it could muck up the injection or the box thingy with wires going in & out, any way any help with info about the Cali would be helpfull, it runs ok & when I get time I will be going over it & sus it out a bit better, it's been a long time back on the road again & it even has a horn, I used to riding the Lemans 850s & 1000s so this is a new kettle of fish foot boards & everything shit hey well take it easy don't buggar up my head too much just plain & simple please ,the answer to your question is simple but not cheap. K&N filter at about $120.00-Staintune mufflers at $995.00 and a stainless H pipe of which I can't give you a price as mine was already fitted. These are not the ultimate performance mods but they do give your bike much better breathing.,,,
Gear
all the other gears are working fine but it just wont engage in top. Tried it at all different revs but nothing it just will not go in. What should i do?sounds like a possible selecter at fault.,,
Clutch
Either a warped plate or contamination of the friction material. Occasionally what you describe can be caused by a burnt clutch plate (too many hard starts) but if that's the case it usually gets a bit better as the plate wears. Unfortunately the only sure way to tell is to get it apart.,
Tires
Metzlers are known to be longer lasting than most other tires but tend to be more pricy .
I have put a bug screen on to my guzzi cali and i
The air is hitting your knees and as this rises up it causes the turbulence around your head. If you put your feet on the rear pegs you will notice it mysteriously disappears. The T3 California's had small wind deflectors on the front crash bars which eliminated the problem and you can still get them but they do require a threaded mounting on on the bar itself.
How to remove the fuel tank from a moto guzzi breva 1100
Probably have to remove the seat first. Most fuel tanks are retained by u shaped flanges that grip a round rubber puck on both sides of the frame near the steering head. After you drain the fuel, lift the rear of the tank slightly and pull it to the rear, it should then be free to lift off the frame.
Blocked overflow on fuel tank
I don't know what vehicle/equipment you're referencing here. With that in mind, can you drill a hole or holes through the chassis just below the gas cap to allow water to escape?
