Not much you can do for this problem. The acid that attacks rust is phosphoric acid. and will be a starting point. IF the rust is flaky put some sharp edged pebbles in it and shake hard to help remove loose rust. (like sand blasting by hand). Use no other acids as they will attack the metal and not the rust. The stronger the phosphoric acid concentration the better. Can be obtained from large hardware stores as a rust converter.

that tube contains o-rings on each side of it. with the middle clip removed that tube can be shoved from one side to the other. with just enough room to get an oring replaced one side at a time. if not then worst case scenerio is the cylinders need to be removed to replace them. thank you.

check condition of air cleaner filter.

my 2001 just had that problem. Take off your air cleaner and look in the carb. There is a plastic venturi there that sticks. it will free up with your finger

Hi Maria, Smoke blowing after a ride out or on start up is normally indicative of worn valve stem oil seals, normally caused by simply wear and tear if the engine has done few miles and regular oil/filter changes with a quality oil are important. Oil seeps into to cylinders past the valves so when combustion happens the engine burns the oil creating smoke. Take it to your bike garage for checking but it's not a cheap fix unless you know anyone whos a decent diy mechanic.

Sounds more like the battery may be dead... take the battery to O'Reilly's or Autozone and check the CCA (Cold Cranking Amps).. amperage is what starts your bike.. not voltage.. then see what happens...Next, its time to trace voltage.. make sure you are getting voltage from the battery to the solenoid.. then from the solenoid to the starter,,

Sounds like the wires have been plugged in wrong. You should be able to find schematics online for it.
