first off what does refuse start mean.?
cranks fast no start
or starter goes dead. zero cranking silent starter motor and silent starter relay too. ?
if cranks ok but will not start try 5% throttle foot, or if still no start
try 100% WOT wide open starts. to clear flooding,
and( these are all dead engine tests)\
at no start is cluster lamps dead too?
at no start are head lamps dim or dead.?
now start has 50 cause that no tech can guess.
we must find it dead to fix it. see ? doing lots of tests. using tools.
so when dead, let me guess starter works fast and robustly
even open hood see crank pulley spin, so does really crank the crank shaft, end) 2n man./test (or you and a monkey? me)

then check for spark now, on all 4 spark plugs not just one.
if have 4 cop coils , this needs spec method
some cars have 2 spark coils and 2 HV wires each
test them 1 by one not all at once on 2 coil pack engines.
yes spark can fail hot easy
if spark work rest fuel spray works into air cleaner or IAT port
if that works the fuel pump is dead?

or if super savvy own a scan tool
connect tool to scan port
engine dead, cranks ok
key on and turn on scan tool
crank for 5 seconds, and release key and do not key OFF
push scan button see DTC P03xx errors bingo.
or other errors, lots possible 100s. even factory codes.
like battery is failing. intermittantly
I have seen 5 to 7 year old batteries that when hit, wake up
with my rubber hammer to it with dead STATER MOTOR.
or even loose battery lugs or rusty, seen rusty only fail on dry ways
or wet, I can not hear your starter so I must be deaf.
