Could be a vent valve actuator, wiring, connection or ECM/PCM issue and would need narrowing down to which one before spending money on an unnecessary part .

If the timing belt were to break on my 1995 Toyota Rav4 2 liter petrol, would it cause the pistons to hit the valves. Or is it non interverannce.??

its best not to take the chance as engine could of been scimed years ago. and it will take out the valves more if it has. even in a non interference engine it will cause a lot of damage if going above 2.000 revs.

Overdrive indicator light flashes after five

This is indicating an issue with the transmission that should not be ignored. The flashing light was designed to annoy you into action. Waiting could cost you a lot more money. I would get the error codes by asking my local shop to get them, or many chain auto stores offer free code reading, just ask. I was at AutoZone a few weeks ago and got the codes, and they printed them off for me, in addition to recommendations as to the cause. Best case scenario is just a reset is necessary (computer perhaps). You don't want to be stuck on the side of the road, so it's good to find out. Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

Most likely your idle speed is too low due to dirt on throttle plates and IAC valve. cleaning these items usually restores normal idle operation.

Just had new turbo fitted but car is lacking power, took car back to garage turbo is working as it should, had it scanned came up with injector pump, cleared fault still the same, disconnected maf senso

In the old days the turbo wastegate was closed and the turbo left to its own devices to produce as much pressure as it could until it reached maximum when the wastegate would open. In modern times the turbo wastegate is open and no pressure is produced unless the engine management decides to close the wastegate. The wastegate is closed (mostly) by a vacuum servo and the vacuum supply is switched on/exhausted by the management computer as it decides. Conditions of low boost/power loss or overboost can be difficult to locate/cure. It is usually pointless relying on basic scanners and code readers because they are often misleading. It is far better to entrust diagnosis to a diagnostic specialist who will have the equipment and experience to view the live data and make sense of it.

Without knowing what type of car you’re referring to and by your description of what’s going on it sounds like the upper bearing plate on the front struts might be the issue.

My car started shaking and sputtering on acceleration as well as missing.

Check your fuel pressure at the Schrader valve (test port) on the engine's fuel rail. Just hook up a fuel pressure gauge and turn the key to on. If below specs, either your pump is weak and failing or your fuel filter is clogged. I believe Autozone (and others) have a loan-a-tool policy. You pay a deposit and get the gauge, and when you return the tool you get your deposit back.

2001 Rav4 gearbox problem.

gears slipping out of mesh indicates 1 ---not properly engaged on selection 2--- failing output shaft bearings 3-- worm slip joint bush in the extension housing not maintaining alignment of the output shaft The gear engagement is by dog teeth in the synchro ring for 5th gear and if that connection alignment is not maintained exactly by bearings and bushes the dog teeth move out of engagement at each revolution AS reverse gear operates through a moveable spur cut gear to engage the counter shaft and the out put shaft and you are having trouble with reverse as well , indicates the out put shaft rear bearing is suspect or is moving in the box housing

2.0 Liter, 2003 Rav4. Car

big end bearings( lower engine rod bearings to confuse) knock at idle and get louder with rpm if the noise changes with rpm and you are hearing it near the ac compressor then it could be the ac pulley bearing test if it is the compressor by listening and then turning the ac off the pulley will still spin but the compressor stops if the noise remains , replace the pulley bearings

Gears slipping

Sounds like early stages of a worn out clutch slipping under load. If it is, make sure in the future to always take your foot completely off of the clutch pedal once in gear, or you will be replacing it again. In other words Do Not Ride the Clutch. Eventually you will have trouble going up hills, even in first or second.
