Toyota Matrix - Answered Questions & Fixed Issues

I took my 05 matrix in to the dealership today because my srs airbag light had been coming on and off for the past month. After the dealership tried charging me $90.00 to diagnose the airbag problem(which i refused to pay and won) they gave me obd code B1660. I googled this code and came up with a website matrixowners.com(this site for some reason doesn't open) but on the preview it does show. "They found code B1660 CK SYSTEM and found a bad passenger air bag indicator which is part of the clock assembly. They want 3 bills plus labor for the clock. ..." my only conclusion is that I just figured out why my clock has been coming in and out for the past year or so. I suggest if you have this clock problem you should check your air bag system and don't pay the fee to diagnose the air bag system. Your car should not have a malfunction if the air bag system if it has never been involved in an accident or modified. It is a safety issue and the air bag system should have a lifetime warranty.

You need an auto electrician to trace the wiring covered by that fuse. Somewhere the wiring harness has rubbed through to the chassis. https://www.google.com/search?q=auto+electrician+near+me ..

I found a YouTube video, MAF Sensor Cleaning in Slow Motion-rzrDIRZ-ccs.webm, that showed me how to remove the mass air flow sensor and spray clean it with CRC mass air flow sensor cleanser. I bought the kit (single use of Mass Air Flow Sensor Cleaner and Throttle Body and Air-Intake Cleaner at Walmart for $7.99 in store price) and cleaned the mass air flow sensor. Then I reset the check engine light by removing and replacing the negative battery terminal. It worked. The check engine light has stayed off. I have a 2005 Toyota Matrix.

1. REMOVE RR WIPER BLADE

1. Raise the rear wiper blade to the position as shown in the illustration where the meshing of the claw disengages with a clicking sound. NOTE: Be careful not to break the claw.
2. Pull straight the rear wiper blade to vehicle's left from the wiper arm. NOTE: Do not fold the rear wiper arm with the rear wiper blade removed from it.

1. REMOVE REAR WIPER RUBBER

1. Place the rear wiper with the rear end of the rubber protruded from the blade stopper as shown in the illustration. NOTE: Do not pull out the wiper rubber forcibly, as the backing plates will become deformed or the blade claws will become damaged. HINT: The rubber can be easily pulled out by pushing the middle area of the blade.

1. INSTALL REAR WIPER RUBBER

1. Install the 2 wiper rubber backing plates to the rear wiper rubber. NOTE: Be careful to observe and keep direction of curvature for correct replacement.

b. Insert the rear wiper rubber from the claw of the middle of the rear wiper blade into the rear end position.

c. After passing the rear wiper rubber through the rear end side claw, protrude it from the rear end stopper and pass it through the front tip side claw.

The ignition switch is the what you put your key in. Technically speaking the Ignition Cylinder is what you put the key and the switch is the sensor connected to the cylinder the tells the module what position the key is in

Should be a push button right where your left knee would be hitting, NOT on the steering column. Below the mirror adjustment, right above the pull-out change holder thing.

i m going to try this one, im no expert , may be this might help , most new cars have computers , and sensors , it could be that the sensors is dirty , or moved, or a wire might be off , clean the sensors ,may be the manuel could show ,were it is , check for lose wires , and type the info of the toyota in the computer , might get an anser so ,hoop something good happening

Go back to the body shop and have them check the ground wires for the lights

Sounds like you suspect the key fob is preventing a start? Pull a sparkplug and hold it near a ground source to see if the ignition is activated and producing spark.
