Battery light on and a strong burnin rubber smell

Diodes on alternator got shorted due to bad battery. You have to replace both. Alternator got overheated from constant charging bad battery.

If they weren't able to diagnose it, Find another shop. We charge one hour shop rate for diagnosis. In that hour I can find the problem. If the problem is wiring, we call back and request two hours time. Most times this fixes the problem. Some times it takes a bit more time. Depends on how many bad/burnt wires there are.

If everything is working fine, except the light, its either a bad coolant sensor, loose sensor contact, or bad ground etc.

first if the cap was going bad there would be a check engine light on, system is pressurized, unless you have a check engine light, it may because you over fill it

Smelling gases from outside usually means one of your rubbers have failed. Inspect all the rubbers on the firewall and the boot rubbers. May also be coming up from around the gear stick.

sorry ask a mechanic to have a look as it could be anything leaking from a hose to a water pump and everything inbetween ,cannot understand what possesed you to buy a petrol version though they are just jungle juice gobblers and at 10 dollars a gallon for petrol these sort of cars are not worth nothing here ,in the UK about a 1000pounds and not a lot more here in spain but a diesel ???? now your talking these fetch money
