Hi.

You connect a fuel pressure gauge like this to the pressure rail. Pressure in this car must be between 35 and 45 psi. If pressure is too low look for kinked fuel lines and eventually replace the pump. If the pressure drops down more than 10 psi in five minutes or if the pressure is considerably higher than that replace the fuel pressure regulator. Below the parts that may need testing:

1. Fuel tank
2. Shut-off valve
3. Non-return valve
4. Fuel pump
5. Fuel pump (Transfer)
6. Fuel filter (High-pressure)
7. Injector
8. Pressure regulator
9. PRC solenoid valve
10. Fuel pump relay
11. Fuel pump resistor and relay (KJ model)

Mazda fuel filters are usually found underneath the back seat. At least that's where mine was. I have a Millenia. Good thing back seats are easy to remove.

Mazda millenia problems

here are a few problems to look out for:

Check-engine light: Check engine light comes on due to carbon buildup on the exhaust valves of 2.5L engine. (1995-02)

Engine noise: Some engines make a metallic tapping noise requiring a new friction-gear spring on the camshaft. (1995)

Headlights: The headlight drain hoses can get kinked by the aiming screws causing fogging. (1995-96)

Keys: It may be hard to turn the ignition key because the steering shaft is not positioned correctly. (1995)

Steering problems: The steering wheel may be off center requiring adjustment of the tie rods. (1995). You can also have a look at the following website where some owner have given their opinions on owning one. http://www.carsurvey.org/reviews/mazda/millenia/r68654/comments/

1997 millenia;a click sound comes when am about to start

Need more info. Could be fuel pump pressurizing. You should turn ac to off position before shutting down the engine, it causes strain on engine start and premature compressor failure.
