Question about 1997 Chevrolet Blazer

3 Answers

I have a 1997 chevy blazer it died yesterday at a 4 way stop the engine just stopped. No engine lights or anything came on.Got it out of the road and after sitting for about 20 minutes I got it to start but it idled rough. When I put it in drive the engine died again waited another 20 minutes and got to start again.Same thing happened put it in gear and it died. This time waited 30 minutes and it started up no problem I let it idle for about 10 minutes then I shut off the engine and couldn't get it to restart. Finally had it towed home I was told it could be the fuel pump.Any suggestions?

Check for fuel pressure and check for spark during the no start condition. Also check the crank sensor, it is located behind the crank pulley mounted in the engine block on the 4.3 L engine
I hope this helps.

Yes thats what it sounds like a very weak fuel pump. You need to check the fuel pressure it should be 55-61 psi with the key on and engine off if its not within these specs replace the pump and fuel filter.

Is your service engine light on? Most common cause is a vacuum leak. but will usually trigger the engine light to come on.

What causes a 1995 chevy blazer 4x4 4.3 die when u come to a dead stop ?

Try doing the following.

Engine stalling issue at low speeds

This problem is commonly caused by a dirty automatic idle speed control valve and throttle valve. Buy a can of throttle valve cleaner from NAPA or Carquest (made by CRC chemicals) and spray it into the air intake while the engine is running, use up about 1/2 the can, engine will try to stall hold the speed up, shut it down and let it soak for 30 minutes, restart and blow out the remaining fluid, shut it down and disconnect the negative battery cable for 5 Min's to reset the base idle control

Abs light on everytime i stop it dies what would cause that on a 95 blazer

The abs light problem is more than likely a faulty speed sensor as for engine cutting off sounds like a low fuel pressure problem.Check the fuel pressure it should be 60-66 psi with the key on engine off. Also check the fuel pressure regulator for proper operation these regulators are known for causing this problem.

2001 Chevy Blazer blower motor not working

It keeps burning out blower resistors because of the blower motor drawing to much amperage so you will need to replace the resistor and blower motor

97 chevy blazer thermosat

Thermostat stuck, and temp relay shut down to protect engine.
Everyhing seems to be working properly except the thermostat.
Yes, tolerances in the engine are tight, so thermal expansion could have caused further damage to your cylinders or pistons ETC.
If this happens again before you have a chance to replace the thermostat... squeeze the upper radiator hose repeatedly and the thermostat may free up.
Reccomendation is replace the thermostat.

Same thing happened to me. I took it to the dealer, no choice. They told me that it is the engine. Didn't want to hear that, but I guess I have no choice.
