I have a 2003 LaSabre. I have had to replace the blower motor 3 times since October 2008. It fan will blow for a little while and then quit. The problem gradually gets worse and more persistant as time goes. Eventually I smell wiring that is hot and the motor is then completely burned up again. I am fairly certain this is a wiring issue because I don't think I could be lucky enough to just have 3 bad parts. I want to fix the problem, I don't want to just keep replacing the blower motor about every 18 months. What fixes can you suggest?

I'll tell it's not the blower motor , it's the blower motor control processor . It's mounted to the blower motor case or heater box .

Replace the timming chain, gears, and magnet. With that cat getting that hot it has to be out of time. When the cam sensor picks up no signal, ecu can't control timming and reverts back to a preset, fixed base # .

SOURCE: Blower motor vent selection switch not working

the hvac selector switch in the dash may be the problem. You need to remove the switch and look at the connector on the back of switch, see if there are any burnt wires at the connector or switch. It's all electronic and the switches have been known to burn out on this and other model.

SOURCE: blower motor resistor

Your blower motor is starting to fail, and needs replaced to fix this. I have this problem on one of my vehicles that is not used often, but in my case the fan will work on the medium setting and function without blowing the fuse, so to save money I hae not replaced mine yet. I yous does nt work on any setting you'll need a new one.

SOURCE: blower motor fan works on high setting only

The resistors are located in the firewall just above the blower motor. they have a heavier gadge wire going to it. As for the water if it is not antifreeze then you have a leak in your cowl area by the lower windshield. I ran in to this problem on several gm cars such as yours it can be deficult to find good luck

2003 bick lesabre blower not working, changed both blower and resistor and fuses. Worked for a few days then quit.

Did you carefully clean out all the debris from the heater box? Did your new blower come with a new fan unit, or re-use the old one? Can you hear the motor run but not blow? These fans are fragile when old, and sometime break right where they attach, thus no blow. If not running, check for current at motor, then resistor, then fuse. Only thing left is the switch.

What are the step by step directions for finding out where blowing motor is and how to replace it in a 2003 buick lasabre

Before buying a blower motor, check the heater fuse, blower motor relay by swopping it with the same type and check for power at the blower motor when its should be on. If there is power and ground at the motor and it doesn't work, then you can condemn it.
  1. Remove the right side sound insulator in the passenger compartment.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the blower motor.
  3. Disconnect the blower ventilation tube from the module.
  4. Remove the blower motor screws.
  5. Remove the blower motor from the housing.
  6. Install the blower motor into the housing.
  7. Reverse order to put everything back.

I have only high speed on my ac/heat switch. have replace acdelco blower motor resistor 2 times already. works for a while and quits. whatelse do I need to check etc?.

If you have replaced the blower motor resistor block twice all ready, i would be replacing the blower motor itself. When the blower motor is drawing too much current it burns out resistors for lower fan speeds in resistor block, but doesnt blow fuse for fan. Also check for leaves and stuff in fan when removing fan.

NEED TO REPLACE THE HEATER FAN IN A 2003 BUICK LASABRE. PLEASE ADVISE IF FAN BLADE CAN BE REPLACED OR DO I NEED TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE BLOWER MOTOR & FAN? THIS IS THE INTERIOR FAN FOR HEATER AND AC.

the fan "blade" is a tubular rotating device that looks like a mouse treadmill. it can't go bad. if it is binding, free it. it is almost certainly the motor which will probably come with a new fan cage.

How replace the resistor for the heater /ac blower motor

According to my data base, you have to remove the right side instrument panel lower insulator to access it. I'm not quite sure what that is, but these things are always located in the blower motor box so that the fan blows on them because they get really hot. Hope this helps. If you get the new one first, you will know what you are looking for.

I have a 2003 GTP and at times the heater fan stops working and now the display unit quits working and it says the fuel is low but I have 3/4 of a tank

I believe that these are two separate problims. The Heater fan stops working because the blower motor resistor block is bad. This is a common problem on the 03 Grand Prix. You'll need to remove the blower and replace the resistor block. The blower is under the center of the drivers onsole.

Check the blower motor speed control resistor pack is ok.
(The resistor pack is usually located in the blower fan ducting in the air flow).
Check condition of electrical connection terminals on the blower motor circuit - these terminals pass considerable current and over time may fatigue overheat and loosen.
Check operation/replace any blower motor control relay,
Check the blower motor will run if +12v directly applied to the blower motor.
Check operation of the blower motor speed control switch is ok.
