Changed the TPS on my 05 sedona and it reads P0122 code on scanner, after clearing the codes the check engine light wont turn off and the codes still reads P0122, maybe a bad TPS ?

That code is for a throttle position sensor and not the pcm.

check codes again. if same codes, check installation of tps. may be another problem along that circuit if new tps good and installed properly.

P0122 Code - Throttle Position Sensor/Switch A Circuit Low Input

A P0122 code means that the the car's computer has detected that the TPS (throttle position sensor) is reporting too low a voltage. On some vehicles that lower limit is 0.17 - 0.20 volts (V).

Did you adjust it when you installed it? If the signal value is less than .17V then the PCM sets this code. Could be an open or a short to ground in the signal circuit. Or you may have lost the 5Volt reference voltage.

* Stalling
* Surging
* No/little acceleration
* other symptoms may also be present

Causes: A code P0122 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
* TPS not mounted securely

HI. Lets start with the P0122 Code.

This code is in reference to the TPS(Throttle Position Sensor). A P0122 code essentially means that the the vehicles computer has detected that the TPS is reporting a low voltage condition. On some vehicles, the lower limit is 0.17 - 0.20 volts, respectively. This can occur if the TPS was not recently installed correctly or mis adjusted. If you have not installed it recently, than the most likely actions are to replace it, asap. Here are the most common symptoms listed below:

1. Rough idle
2. stalling during acceleration or stumbling at a red/stop light.
3. poor acceleration

If you are not experiencing those symptoms, it will most likely be intermittent and clearing the code may resolve the problem for a short time. If this should be the case, i would check the wires for rubbing against the housing or grounding faults. Again, make sure it is adjusted properly if recently installed.


The next code will be the P0700.

This is a serious transmission control unit code. You will need to take this vehicle to the dealership for the correct scan tool. You will need to extract the special codes to actual repair, correctly. Usually, the entire module will need to be replaced. A regular scanner will not pick up the TCU codes. This is a dealership code. Most Kia's are covered with a 10 year/100,000 warranty, so this should be covered.

you need a scanner obd 1 you could undo the battery or pull a fuse but obd2 needs a scanner too clear the codes you could go too autozone they will read the codes for you and clear them and try too sell you a part that probly wont fix it but if you clear it and its not fixed it will come back

Code P0122 is a TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) sensor out of range.

The operating range of the TPS is about .5 to 4.8 volts. .5 at idle 2.5 at half throttle and 4.8 at full throttle.

This can be checked easily with a scanner. But can be checked with a multi-meter.

Make sure you installed the correct TP sensor. If so you may have a bad one. I have gotten bad "new" parts before. If all your problems started with the installed part start there.
