I TELL YOU HOW TO CENTER IT. FIRST YOU WSHOULD ALIGN THE PITMAN ARM SLOT TO THE BOX(INTER A 6MM DRILL OR ALEN WRENCH) AFTER THAT YOU EITHER ADJUST IT WITH STEERING WHEEL IF IT IS OUT LESS THAN 12 DEGREE OR DISCONNECT THE LOWER I-SHAFT FROM THE BOX AND RECONNECT . WHEN THE STEERING IS IN THE STRAIT POSITION YOU SHOULD ONLY BE ABLE TO TURN YOUR WHEEL BETWEEN 1 AND3/4 T0 2 TURN IN EACH DIRECTION. GOOD LUCK

Ther is an adjustment on the steering link between the drop arm ball joint and the oppositi wheel . Loosen the clamps and turn the shaft with a pipe wrench while noting the steering position.

Hi there my car is a polo classic model 2005 m having a problem of the there steering light i try to put the steering oil but still is there please help.

Try this..... Put key into ignition and turn so lights come on (facia).. Do not start car... Turn the steering wheel left to right 90° approx a few times. This will be quite hard to do.
Then turn off ign and restart as normal.
If steering wheel light has gone out and steering is working you will need a new motor drive at some point.
Note.. Sometimes the fuse blows so check fusebox and replace if necessary.

How to replace a power steering gear box

Have the tires straight, lock or secure the steering wheel so it doesn't move. Remove the hoses and steering linkage from the box. Raise the front and remove the drivers tire. Remove the linkage from the pitman arm at the bottom of the box. Use a large hammer to break the linkage free from the arm, don't hit the threads. You will see 3 or 4 large bolts going threw the frame, remove them to drop the box. You will need a pitman arm removal tool to get the arm off the box. You can rent them from the parts store. New boxes come centered, so install the box first, then put the pitman arm on, matching it to the linkage.

How do you tighten the steering wheel in a 1997 jeep cherokee?

this sounds like a steering rack/track rod problem , will need to go to a repairer as this can only be measured by specific equipment, have a look at inside and outside edges of front tyres , are they worn smooth? does it pull to one side when driving ? if so definately needs looking at very soon as could be dangerous

Power steering doesnt turn, is it my power steering switch???

Hi Chris, the concept of power steering in cars and trucks should read POWER ASSISTED, this means if your power steering fails, you can still steer the vehicle unlike some machinery and tractors that have full power steering which the steering wheel will just spin when the engine is turned off with no connection to your wheels, If your steering wheel does not turn it is a mechanical problem, steering arm jammed pitman arm in the wrong position or something like that. remove the pitman arm off the steering box and see if it will turn. you did mean that it won't turn at all and not turn easily like power steering should

The oil in my power steering is black how do I change it

First thing you need to do is remove thwe return line from your power steering reservoir. Thats the thing you put the power steering fluid in. Run that hose to a large container where you can catch a lot of fluid in. Now you want to make sure you have your new power steering fluid on hand before you start and another person would be very helpful also. Have your helper start the car and turn the wheel back and forth while you pour power steering fluid in the reservoir. Do not let your power steering fluid run completely out you can ruin your pump and or steering box. Continue to pour in new steering fluid until the fluid coming out of the hose thats in the bucket is clean fluid. Turn vehicle off reconect the hose to the reservoir and top off. With the lid off reservoir start the vehicle back up and turn wheel all the way back and forth many times(do not turn it to its furthest position where it bumps) continue to make sure the fluid level is always full. By turning the wheel back and forth you are bleeding the lines to get all the air out. Do that a few times, refill and put the cap back on. You just changed your power steering fluid. I f your vehicle is old you may want to get new rubber hoses for your power steering system. hoses degrade over time and eventually they start to flake off into your fluid which can damage parts. Always a good idea to replace hoses especially if they are soft.

Electric windows on both passenger and drivers side dont work, i have checked fuse and this is ok{rover 114 GSI CAR} {I had to put landrover in the product section as rovers were not there}

You need to trace back from the switches for power. Remove the switches and get a testlamp and check for power, if there is power, then its the switch, if not then trace the cables back to the fuse box, checking for broken wires.
