One coil pack is not firing at all

The ignition module has 3 coilpacks on it and the front one is not fring at all so it is skipping on those 2 cylinders. I replaced the coilpack and it still would not fire. I took the ignition module and had it tested and it checked out good. I also replaced the ecm because I assumed it wasn't sending the signal to the ignition module to make it fire, but this did not cure the problem either. Do you know if the cam or crank sensor could cause this ?
I was also thinking it may be an open circuit in the wiring but I don't have any schematics for this vehicle. The funny thing is that it isn't giving any kind of engine code. any info you have would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks J. Brown

I'll check for the power and strobing ground tomorrow . Also Could you tell me where these fuses are located. I checked all the maxi fuses under the hood and I also checked a few in a small fusebox located under the dash close to the ecm .

All of these were good but I was thinking there should be more fuses than what I,ve found . but I don't know where they are located. Thanks, J. Brown

I have a 91 regal gs and have the same problem # 6 and 3 coil is not firing. It's funny becuase the problem went away on it's own 3 times, now the car will not start at all. when the car was running it would be fine and suddenly miss terribly and like I said seemed to repair itself. I tested the mod and it was good and I"m sure the coils are fine. please help!!!! [email protected]

2006 Ford Ranger 3 litre. I had no spark on 2/3 and massive spark on Cyl 1. Replaced coil pack and now have massive spark coming from all 3 on that bank. What can be the cause from Cylinder 1?

FIRST OFF LEARN THE RULES OF WASTED SPARK COIL PACKS
1-IF ONE WIRE OR PLUG GOES OPEN, YOU LOSE 2 PLUGS DEAD THAT IS BECAUSE 2 FIRE AT ONCE, AND IS WIRED IN SERIES
2-DO NOT MIX IF THE WIRES OR FIRING ORDER IS LOST (HORROR 1)

3- LEARN TO REPLACE HV WIRES 1 BY 1, NOT MIXING THEM UP EVER.
YOUR PACK IS 6 IN ONE, AND HAS 3 COILS INSIDE FIRING IN WASTED SPARK ORDER. IS THIS CLEAR? AND ANSWERS IT ALL.

4- WELL THE HV WIRES ARE FIRST TO CHANGED OUT WITH NEW SPARK PLUGS AS 17 OLD PLUGS AND HV WIRE SETS ARE NO GOOD UNLESS NGK MAG WIRE, NOW THAT IS A WINNER THOSE, NOT CARBON CORE OR SILCONE CORE JUNK WIRES EVER,SEE NOW MOTORCRAFT SAVED OUR BACON,

SEE PHOTO BELOW FOR FIRING ORDER.
ON TOP OF COIL CLEAR AS DAY 6" SEE 3 AND 4 THERE, THEY FIRE AT THE SAME TIME.
AS DOES 2/6 AND 1/5

5: CYLINDER #1 ON ALL V ENGINE IS THE ONE MOST FRONT
IT IS OFF SET TO THE FRONT MOST. BINGO #2
THEN WE GET ASKED THE FIRING ORDER.
6: THIS IS NOT GUESSING THIS IS SERVICE MANUAL FACTS .
BANK 1> 1,2,3
BANK 2> 4,5,6
VIN U) Firing order 1-4-2-5-3-6
SEE HOW ALL THIS MATTERS?

Not getting spark in #1 & #4 cylinder

Since both one and 4 are fired using the same coilpack if the location of the coilpack is easy to get to you can swap it with the 3/2 coil pack and see if the miss moves to 3/2 thus eliminating the ignition module and related circuits and confirming the coil is faulty

Trying to figure out how to disassemble the coilpack for my 1992 pontiac bonniville.it is a sigle coil pack

they used two different ignition systems on the older v-6 engines. One is called a magnovox ignition and is identified by having one coil pack assembly. If one coil goes bad the whole coil assembly will need to be replaced. There are 6 bolts holding it to the module and a torx or a 5.5mm socket will be needed to remove them.

The other system uses 3 individual coils. There will be two bolts/screws for each coil. Once the screws are removed the coil can be pulled up and off of the module.

Where are the ignition coil packs and how do I remove them?

The coil packs sit on top the the engine. As you open the hood toward the rear of the engine you will see four cokl packs sitting on the engine. There are 3 10mm bolts holding the bracket that holds all the coil packs. You can remove them all at once (easier) or try to remove coil packs one at a time.
