The ignition module has 3 coilpacks on it and the front one is not fring at all so it is skipping on those 2 cylinders. I replaced the coilpack and it still would not fire. I took the ignition module and had it tested and it checked out good. I also replaced the ecm because I assumed it wasn't sending the signal to the ignition module to make it fire, but this did not cure the problem either. Do you know if the cam or crank sensor could cause this ?
I was also thinking it may be an open circuit in the wiring but I don't have any schematics for this vehicle. The funny thing is that it isn't giving any kind of engine code. any info you have would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks J. Brown
I would change the ignition module, test for a strobing ground to the coil thats not firing, and also check for key on power constantly at the coil if you are missing the ground your module is bad please rate and let me know if this helps -jeff

I'll check for the power and strobing ground tomorrow . Also Could you tell me where these fuses are located. I checked all the maxi fuses under the hood and I also checked a few in a small fusebox located under the dash close to the ecm .
All of these were good but I was thinking there should be more fuses than what I,ve found . but I don't know where they are located. Thanks, J. Brown
I have a 91 regal gs and have the same problem # 6 and 3 coil is not firing. It's funny becuase the problem went away on it's own 3 times, now the car will not start at all. when the car was running it would be fine and suddenly miss terribly and like I said seemed to repair itself. I tested the mod and it was good and I"m sure the coils are fine. please help!!!! [email protected]
