Hi robrtsn,
As you forgot to say what the engine is in your 4-Runner....I'll give you the rule of thumb....if you have a timing chain in your engine, you'll need to check it only if it becomes noisy....If you have a timing belt, the manufactures recommend that it's replaced every one hundred thousand kilometers.....thats about sixty five thousand miles.... I believe that the later vehicles...(those with the electronic odometer fitted) have been extended to one hundred and fifty thousand, but to be on the safe side, I'd replace at one hundred thousand, especially with the number of sub standard parts that are available on the market these days....
I also own a 2003 Toyota Fourrunner SR5 4WD and my particular model, according to the owner's manual maintenance guide, there is no recommendation for the timing chain to be replaced. Only the serpentine belt. Now the V8 model, it recommends the change at 90,000, if I am not mistaken.

You can't, it is all computers, modules, sensors and electronics on a computer network. You have to fix alarms and immobilizers, not try and find a way around them. They are too clever and complex.
60000 or 48 months on belt which is used on the 5VZ-FE motor. The 2RZ-FE and 3RZFE are chain and there is no clear information about changeing them as a maintenence. i hope this helps.
If yours is a 2003, you might look at changing the power steering fluid. I have a 97 Accord that would start jerking the steering wheel back and forth after it had warmed up. Replaced axles and didn't work, but replaced the fluid and it hasn't happened since. Wouldn't be hard or expensive to try. Just be sure to use the right fluid.
take a peek in your timing chain, if its still there and tensioned, if it is,then that shouldnt be it, look for some other posible cause. i havent had any situation that a timing chain jumped into the next teeth. I assume that you got a 4 cyl 22r engine.
