Hi ,, i have a 4 litre mazda t4000 ,, its a horse truck ... it blows a fair bit of black smoke when going up hills and some white smoke when i start it up ... should i worry ... thanks

The black smoke is unburnt diesel fuel- lift your foot. When I was learning to drive diesel trucks (many years ago, in one of these trucks) I was taught that when going up hill under load, I should lift off the accelerator until it just starts to die off, then give it a little bit just to hold revs. No more black smoke.

When you start it, do you let the glow plugs heat for long enough? (Does it have them? I can't remember).

Thinking of buying an a4 tdi 1.9 diesel - seller says it smokes (grey) under heavy acceleration. Should I avoid it? Or is it livable wth (200k mileage)

grey smoke on acceleration is NORMAL for this engine, white or black avoid like the plague.....you could use an injector cleaner,redexe/wynns or similar.i use it every 25k,and (touch wood) no funny noises/smoke YET.expect oil consumption to be better than 500k per litre or a rebuild is needed.

2005 Ford F350 SuperDuty 6.0 litre Diesel. Truck was very sluggish to accelerate and little or no boost showing on turbo pressure gauge. Next morning, it started fine, but when put in gear would quit and...

well the question is where did the coolant go. if it didnt leak out it must have went out the pipe. As you stated, white smoke, white smoke is coolant. You definately need to get this to the shop. You cannot drive it this way or further damage will occur.

6.9 litre diesel losing power over last few days of driving, changed fuel filter no difference, cannot get enough speed up to allow trany to shift, bogging bad. and blowing blue when reved, not black....

Blue smoke is oil. With blue smoke and no power you should take the truck to a diesel reair shop to have it looked at. It could be that the valves need adjusting or it could be broken rings or a cracked piston, all of which are beyond the scope of online diagnosis. With a diagnosis in hand, you should pick up a copy of Haynes Diesel Engine Repair Manual, part #10330. It can help if you think you want to attempt the repairs yourself. Hope this helps.

Jag X TYPE Diesel Black smoke coming from exhaust on acceleration

i had this problem and thought the fuel filter oil filter needed replacing so i have just had a service done but problem is still there but not as bad. been told it could be the AGR valve or a split pipe going to it which recuirculates unused fuel back to burn again. therefore unspent fuel is coming out of the exhaust causing the black smoke. i am still looking for the answer aswell, hope this helps.

6.6 liter diesel blows blue smoke

check turbo tubes for oil. If wet turbo is leaking. otherwise you may have rings leaking, how is compression?
Also there is a crankcase pressure soleniod in left side of enigine block, it should NOT rattle.
