We have a 2008 dodge avenger. This time we were driving and the car lost power. The battery is not dead and it is not the alternater according to the service center we had it towed to. When you turn the key over there is a clicking noise and tried to turn over and sputtered for a few seconds, now nothing. The service center said it wasn't the fuel filter but thought it had to do with the alarm system. Said it thought the car was being stolen and shut off. The dealer says they think it is the fuel filter. What is it?

Dash lights are complicated as power is supplied by a ribbon cable that also does other features. Check the Light Dimmer wheel first as that is the main reason for having no dash lights..

Have you connected the aftermarket unit properly? If you have hooked the main power up to a permanent live power in the car it will continuously draw power. Only the memory wire (yellow) should be connected to a constant power, the main power should be from an ACC switched power. If the radio has been installed correctly there will be no power loss while the ignition is off.

Alternator failing (way to check start car disconnect positive to battery if car dies its alternator)
or battery no longer holding charge
Check all vehicle filters replace if nessary
Throttle position sensors will give a bucking sensation if they go bad and rpm's would erratic or stale at either high or low end of spectrum
Bad fuel could cause these symptoms
A cold car not properly warmed can also cause the symtems above
These things are things to look at why your car doing what its doing

I'm not sure where you got your alternator tested, but recently I was in the same situation with my 1998 avenger and the alternator was at fault

if the PCM lost its programming because the battery was excessivly drained then the car will need to be releaned. You may feel issues but generally they clear up after awhile. Having a dead battlery should not of damaged anything.

you might have shorted your pcm out

Call AAA or CAA and get em to use a slim jim to open door, probably cost $50

check the sparking plugs

Ok, trust me on this one, take the drivers side tire off and remove the forward inner fender panel. If you try it without removing the tire, it is just a royal pain.
