Replacing convertable rear window 2000 z3 2.3

Take it to a specialist ,these windows are stitched in if iam not mistaken ir confused

it sounds like the lift mechanism/regulator has worn out or siezed and needs replacing

window is off track or the regulator is bad, you will need to remove the panel and inspect the window and regulator, if it is the regulator you will see a loose cable. Good Luck Tim

I have had this same problem with my 2000 Sebring Convertible. I was told that the rear defrost is often a problem in convertibles and hatch-backs. My problem is very obvious though. When I turn the rear defrost on - the light does turn on (as if it was working), but the power does not get through. There are small 'clips' on each side of the window that hold the wires. After time and putting the top up and down, the clips can come off. My passenger side clip is currently hanging - very visible. Many mechanics are afraid to fuss with putting it back on for fear that they cause more damage than good. Look on the sides of the rear window and you may see the problem. Good luck.

This is a common problem with many cars. It is delamination. If the window is loose in spots, it can often be repaired with urethane adhesive like glass shops use for windshields. If the glass is more than 30% delaminated, chances of fixing it are slim. With the glass all the way out, you need a new top. Karl at topgunwon.com

remove te rear trim panels and replace the window regulators, this is very common.

I have a 2000 Sebring convertable, and my passanger window just went out. It was stuck in the down position. Mechanic said it was a relay switch, could be the same thing. Other things he thought it might be could be the motor of the window itself or the switch. Since both of your switches don't work, then you can count that out.

first check the fuse.if its good then check the window motor by pressing the button and if you dont hear the motor going theres your problem, needs to be replaced.  unfortunatly the motor isnt sold by itself you got to buy the window regulator. here is a pic. of the part

I'm working on the rear window problem with my car -- the convertible top shop told me about options to replace the window (including the fabric, etc around it) or replacing the entire top (the window unit + outside fabric). I'm now looking into temporary fixes...

Meanwhile -- about the water under the seat -- my drain holes were plugged -- they unplugged them for me -- the water going through the window was carrying debris down and plugged them up -- so check that out so at least water won't sit there. YUCK! I'm tired of bailing.

I would like to hear if you found a solution.
