2004 Ford Explore - Rear Windows

My 2004 Explore has a problem with the rear windows not working. Started with one, now both do not work?

  • Anonymous Sep 28, 2008

Had same problem on 3 of our company explorers 2004 and 2005. The concept was right on, but I had to hold down the button and slam the doors a few times to get them to release. Good tip. Thanks

Where is fuse for rear vent windows

If neither work, it is probably the switch. All the windows front and back work off the same circuit breaker.

I have a 1999 taurus. the rear windows , rear window defogger and rear power door locks don't work. Could there be a connection?

Yes, there could be a connection, test your Fuses.

It is also a Taurus and have numerous problems also....

you are going to need to test the systems, but I would start under the hood and test the fuses

The sliding rear window on my Ford 2004 F-150 does not work. I have listen for humming or clicking when I press the switch, but hear nothing. I checked what I think is the fuse for this and it was good....

Is this a 2004 Heritage / Lightning or a New Body style 2004 ( like the 05-08 MYs ) ?
The fuse is the same one for the power windows.

Might want to pull the overhead console, and test the switch for the rear slider

Rear wiper stopped working

my 2004 expedition had same problem, if you take apart the shaft that goes thru the glass it will be full of dirt, clean ,lubricate and reinstall, you may have to replace the O-ring on the shaft. a 20 minute job, very easy fix

'00 Ford Explorer - Master window switch won't work rear windows

Without proper electrical diagnostic equipment and based on the very through description that you gave I would suggest getting a new switch. I say a new switch because on the drivers side the switch is one giant junction block. I have the same vehicle and had my door panel off for some locking issues.

I have attached a link to Ford Direct. The part that you are looking for is Window switch, explorer, 4 door, right

1 Rear Window

I've had my motors replaced in my 04 explorer, but it still does it. If you don't let the windows down every day or so then it freezes up and won't work.
