SOURCE: brake indicator lamb

My Chiltons manual for the toyota seinna 1998-2002 it says that with the lite always on means ecu malfunction and the action to take is ' ecu problem '. Sometimes these manuals leave a lot to be desired.

there appears to be a speed sensor on every wheel with the abs actuator assembly(including ecu) is attached to the brake booster.

the manual says. . . .The ABS computer(ECU) is mounted within the ABS actuator and is the ' brain' for the ABS system. The function of the computer is to accept and process information recieved from the wheel speed sensors to control the hydraulic line pressure, avoiding wheel lock up. The computer aslo constantly monitores the system, even under normal driving conditions, to find faults within the system.
If a problem develops within the system, an "ABS" light will glow on the dashboard. A diagnostic cod will also be stored in the computer and, when retrieved, will indicate problem area or component.

I hope this helps

There is a Bulletin on this concern, and it is a warrantable condition for 8 years or 80,000 miles so you are still covered by the factory warranty.
The problem is a logic issue in the PCM. The correction is a new PCM with updated software.

SOURCE: 1995 toyota avalon will not start and gear shift

Sounds like a battery problem. The clicking sound is usually the starter solenoid trying to engage the starter but not enough voltage or amps. There has to be enough power or you will not be able to move shifter assuming you pushed the brake pedal down while trying to shift out of park. And, it hasn't been noted whether it is a manual or auto trans.

How to fix 2001 toyota sienna rear door not opening

The inner hatch latch mechanism is seized. You need to pull the door panel with it closed. It will be tight but it will come off without cracking. Spray lube around inside of latch. Get a long screw driver and pry the link from the key. The latch won't release until the key link goes to the unlock position. It will be seized. It is easy to figure which way to move it if you have someone insert the key into the closed hatch and try to move it.

2001 Toyota Sienna r.h. sliding door ''rear latch switch'' location

To start, the noun "''rear latch switch'' is incorrect. It's actually called "Slide Door Lock". It's located on page BO-20 of the Toyota Repair Manual for the 2001 Sienna. There are two door locks on one sliding door. One in the front and one in the rear. Obviously, you want the one in the rear. The location for the "Slide Door Lock" (which also contains an electric switch) is in the rear of the sliding door located mid way up door. You can see (sliding door opened from the back) it without dissembling the door. And, the lock is made up of plastic (dirty white in color).

I have a problem with my 2001 Toyota sienna, took it to inspection yesterday to get inspected and didn't pass results Cat not ready and evap not ready, inspector tell us run the car couple miles and bring...

If the "evap not ready" readiness monitor never clears and you keep getting P0440,P0441,P0446 type codes, then you have a problem with the evap system. You have already tried the gas cap (good start) but there are about 6 other things it can be from electrical VSV air valves (there are 3 of them, 2 under the hood, 1 near the charcoal cannister (behind fuel tank) to 2 air operated valves on the front of the same cannister. There is also an air line that goes to one of the electric VSV valves on the air cleaner under the hood. Several oil change places have been guilty of pullling these off and not reconnecting them.
