Hi, I have a Volvo V40 (1998). The drivers side window went down like normal to around half and jammed. Toggling the switch to go up or down does not work now and I can hear a faint noise but does not move. Using my fingers to assit moving it up does not work either. If the motor inoverload mode and may work later? Thank you very much in anticipation for some assistance. Regards Mohan

Late model intelligent windows might need a dealer intervention.
Usual way to reset auto windows is to open the window and hold the switch in the down position for several seconds (often a subdued click will be heard) and then raise the window holding the switch in the up position for several seconds or until the click is heard.
was regulator bad? did it work from drivers side switch before you did regulator repair?..if so passenger side switch wiring has issue and is not sending signal through it back to the drivers side master switches.. otherwise you need to pin test for power up power down on drivers side switch and repair that if issue going to the window on passenger side.. (possible pinched at door jam area common)
Try pressing down till connects with window bracket, then try up & down. Good luck, Actuall sounds like you need to clenn the window motor plug-in's with some wd/40 next This is located in the driver side door pannel.good luck to ya. .
you should see a little "button" on the door jam, hinge side, held in with a cross head screw. if you take the screw out and feed the switch out by pulling gently and turning the switch assembly a little it will have a single wire on it. this could be touching the door jamb and making the circuit. insulate with some tape and replace as it came out.
try activating it from the passenger side door switch. (working with the idea it is a switch problem). then try listening real close when you try to roll it up... if you hear the motor running , it is the tape that is the regulator.
