I have a 2007 grand caravan. I used one can of ac coolant this seemed to work for a couple of days, Now there is no cool air coming out and the ac clutch dosent even kick on.Is this a bad compressor? Any ideas on how to troublesoot this.

  • Anonymous Jul 27, 2011

The clutch won't engage most likely because there is not enough refrigerant in the system. There is a pressure switch, in series with the compressor, which opens when the pressure drops. Sounds like there is a refrigerant leak. These leaks are typically located by introducing dye into the system alond with the refrigerant.

The ac clutch wont kick on if the refrigerant is low. If you have rear air I wouldn't expect one can to do very much for very long. You may not have lost what you put in but it may not be enough to do anything. Try a large can for SUV's with stop leak, engine running, system turned on high, while charging the system. Make sure you screw the cap back onto the port.

My front air bower for my ac stopped working my rear ac works I have a 2007 grand caravan help air blower or compressor?

if you have cold air in the rear then it isn't the a/c compressor. if no air comes out of the front vents the it is either the blower motor or the blower motor resistor.

Sounds like you need to replace the cabin air filter. Here is a link to a page that shows you that this filter is located up under the dash behind the glove box. You do not need to remove the glove box. Just look up under. You will see it. Visit this web site. Dodge Grand Caravan cabin air filter location From year 2001 2002 2003...

Heater on my 05 Grand Caravan blows cold air when below 30 degrees - above 30 works fine. Heat gauge shows normal so it shouldn't be thermostat. Checked coolant and it is fine.

just because the gauge seems normal doesnt mean the thermostat is good, its 5 years old,and may be opening to soon, i would start by having the t-stat replaced and while thats being done have the cooling system flushed including a flush off the heatercore. i ve worked on a couple of these vans with heating problems, most were low on coolant due to a slow waterpup leak, the others with half plugged heatercores, due to the lack of coolant flushes. hope this helps.

Ac not cooling well - noticed 2 days ago steam coming out of ac vents.

That was probably not steam but escaping freon coming from the vents. Probably the best course of action would be to take it to an AC repair shop.
