Sebring air conditioner

Turns out after we spent $700 on the ac even after I was clear with the guy the ac works fine he still managed to run up the bill. Even said the condenser($210) was plugged and had to be replaced. Got the car back and it immediately did the same thing. Shutting off for no apparent reason. This only happened after he gave the car back to us. He said he drove it over 60 miles and ran it parked for two hours.
Well guess what? It turned out to be the knob on the dash. Just tap it when needed and all comes back on. My wife has been doing this for two weeks and its working. Guess it needs a new control.
Well, I wish this mechanic would have addressed that from the start instead of raping us for 700 bucks.
Thanks for your help sir

have the same problem. Spent 500 dollars and the air conditioning still only works when it wants to. Took it back and they said it was probably the knob.

Why when I start my car is there an odor coming from vents that smells like something is burning, and my Air Conditioner still blows, but it only blows out hot air. 2008 Chrysler Sebring. Help?

have an accredited ac shop as an ac cannot produce hot air only cold air so that means that the ac is not working (leaks low on gas etc). The hot air is from the heater in the car and the smell is probably wire overheating or the resistors are burning.

I have a 2002 Nissan Sentra and need help w/figuring out what's wrong with the air conditioner. When the car is sitting still the ac works fine but with driven the ac stops working/blowing hot air. Please,...

That's a tricky one. Sounds as though there may be a loose connection / dodgy fuse or even a charging fault. I assume the battery lamp is not glowing at all when the engine is running.

Overheating problem, what is the most probable cause?

You need to stop using it immediately before you
cause some damage or more than you may already have
That is just common sense. It should not overheat or
be any different than it was in the past without problem

The car has to be checked over/diagnosed,tested,etc for
various issues to resolve

Borrow or Rent a car until resolved

No way to guess at the problem

You should have some type of codes avail even
if the check light isn't on,you need professional help
to get a start on resolving

The timing belt maybe worn & jumped or the head gasket
bad.

Over heating isn't usually a cheap repair unless the thermostat
sticks partially closed

The RPM moves around the car is 11 years old,so it may just
need a though going over

Timing Belt,O2 Sensors,Exhaust Converter,Spark Plugs
and such

If you depend on a repair shop to do things & don't
have the knowledge to request work done throughout
the year, then you run into a lack of proactive preventative
maintenance situation. Most things are simple looking
back, once resolved

When I turn on my air conditioner in my 2004 Chrysler Sebring 2.7L it blows cold air until the car has been running for 10 plus minutes and then air blows hot and the RPMs go up and down drastically.

A mechanic would check for voltage at the ac compressor and the freon charge when the ac stops working.
If the compressor is cutting on and off the idle speed will change.

Air conditioner will not work and we dont have a car manual so i do not know if a fuse is faulty or not t

if the freon level is low the AC compressor will not turn on, you do not say whether or not the fan turns when the selector is placed on AC or heater etc.

Air conditioner pump slips on serpentine belt when activated

see if that vehicle came without A/C. If so ck for the belt availability and see if it can be put od bypassing the compressor. At the least, disconnect the compressor clutch wirin g so the A/C will not function at all. until you can manage a the cost of a pump. Good luck, Ned

Air conditioner turns on when car starts.

If only the AC indicator light is on but you are still getting warm air from the vents, this is not an issue.  Most newer cars run the AC compressor nearly all the time to prevent moisture accumulation inside the car.  Without the compressor running, your windows may steam up and hinder your visibility.
