Re: Where is the fuel filter located at on a gmc 2003...
Hi, the filter is clamped in a fixture mounted to the frame. See picture and instructions below, and let me know if you have any questions.
Except 5.3L Flexible Fuel Engine (L59)
NOTE
On 2005-06 gasoline engines except 5.3L Flex Fuel the fuel filter
is integral with the fuel pump/sender assembly in the fuel tank.

Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.

Disconnect the negative battery cable.

Relieve the fuel system pressure.

Raise the vehicle.

Clean all the fuel filter connections and the surrounding areas
before disconnecting the fuel pipes in order to avoid possible
contamination of the fuel system.

Disconnect the threaded fittings from the fuel filter.

Cap the fuel pipes in order to prevent possible fuel system contamination.

Slide the fuel filter from the bracket.

Inspect the fuel pipe O-rings for cuts, nicks, swelling, or distortion. Replace the O-rings if necessary.
To install:

Slide the fuel filter into the bracket. Remove the caps from the fuel pipes.

Connect the threaded fittings to the fuel filter. Tighten the fittings to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).

Lower the vehicle.

Tighten the fuel filler cap.

Connect the negative battery cable.
-
Turn the ignition
ON
for 2 seconds.

Turn the ignition
OFF
for 10 seconds.

Turn the ignition
ON
.

Inspect for fuel leaks.
