Before spending big money or taking it in, remove your gas cap before going further, then see if it starts. If it does you've solved the problem on your own. New Gen of mechanics forget the simple steps.

Sounds like you have a bad catalytic converter when they clogg your car cant exhaust and creats backpressure that stalls out your car the same thing with your air filter if its dirty your not getting enough clean air to the car... but because it runs 10 min... before it dies and you are getting no warning lights, and the car restarts after it cools down makes me think catalytic converter.... i hope this helps

I have a 03 kia sorento that i just changed the timing belt and water pump on. It drove fine for about 10 mins but then stalled. After 15 mins it starts, runs for 10 mins, rough again and stalls out.

run fault codes
check for wiring on crank shaft position sensor or cam position sensor/s
it will be something that was affected by the belt replacement procedure

Hard to start hot engine 3.5 l KIA sorento 04 after several mile

Hi, There are a lot of components that help to make the engine run. Most of them are computer controlled. I would have your mechanic check it out with a scan tool. (code scanner).
If one sensor is bad it can change a lot of things on how the car runs. Good luck.

Started my 2005 Kia Sorento this morning. It sounded and felt rough than died. Started it again gave it some gas and kept running rough. but RPM's fluxing up and down.

If no "check engine" or "wrench symbol" shows on the dash, the problem may be with bad gas.

If you do have a light displayed on the dash, Autozone, Advance, and Oreilys will scan the car for free. They can give you the defect number and sell parts to you if you can fix it yourself. If you need someone to fix it, at least when you call, you can price the repair by name.

Let the car idle and warm up before accelerating. See if it smooths out or makes noises. The noises would indicate problems that should not be driven.

I hope my solution is helpful.

At an idle, no car should have a red hot exhaust manifold. If it does, this could indicate a clogged Catalytic Converter. or a o2 sensor thats bad. I would not drive it until it gets fixed. convertor, timing, etc, just get it checked out! good-day !

I have a 2006 Sorrento as well where the engine shuts down under acceleration or going up hills. had the fuel filter changed resolved the problem. Now 10 months after original problem has started happening again. Cause id the fuel tank liner delaminating and blocking the hoses and filter with the debris. Might be worth getting it checked

could be a falling cam sensor or O2 sensor, O2 sensors don't like being cold as it takes longer to heat up and ecu reads it as a fault. cam sensor these fail more when they get hot. dirty MAF/MAP sensor can also affect the engine.

"04"sorento fuel or not?

replace the fuel filter first, if that does not work, you have a bad fuel injector.
