The Blower Motor in my RSX-S wont shut off unless the Blower Control Relay is removed. I bought another relay and that did not fix the problem. I did a diagnostic and the code was 12 (Blower Control Circuit). Ive worked on electronics and cars for years and have never seen where something fails to stop working which to me indicates an open circuit. Is this right? and should I keep replacing relays to troubleshoot?

Blower Unit Components Replacement

Note these items when overhauling the blower unit:

The recirculation control motor, the power transistor ), the blower motor (C), and the dust and pollen filters (D) can be replaced without removing the blower unit.

  • Before reassembly, make sure that the recirculation control linkage and doors move smoothly.
  • After reassembly, make sure the recirculation control motor runs smoothly.

Try swapping out another relay of the same configuration, there are several to choose from. If you fan operates and the truck won't start all of a sudden, than the swithched relay was at fault. They can click but still not complete a circuit because of burnt contact pointswithin the relay.I, myself pry the tops loose around the rim and use a fingernail filing board to clean them. I'm frugle.

96 Chevy blower motor wont work

If you have a test light, check for power at the blower motor, see if it will come on with a wire from battery positive ,to the positive on the blower motor,if it does not, check to see if the motor is grounded, then check to see if the relay has 12 volts to it.The relay should have 12 volts to it,with the switch off.Turn the switch on,and use test light only, touch the probe to all the terminals on the relay, one at a time, with the relay plugged up,when the test light touches the ground,on the relay,it will activate the blower motor, ground the test light of course.Use a test light to chase down the problem,it is the best toll for this, and is not exspensive.
