Have 93 chevy lumina 3.4L. The engine cranks but won't start. This does not happen all the time. Sometimes I hear the fuel pump but either way it still does not start. I let it set for a little while and then it starts.....????

SOURCE: 93 Chevy Blazer S-10 4.3L F.I.

if this is the vortec engine you may want to check to confirm that the injector pot is working. The injector pot is located under the air intake manifold (top half only) & PLEASE BE SURE TO DISCONECT BATTERY FIRST. if you unbolt the top half of the intake manifold you will find the main injector pot otherwise known as the SPIDER. This part does have a history of failing and can be very costly to replace if you purchase it new. most junk yards should be able to find one for you.

Sounds like it has jumped timing, dont know which engine you have so could be chain or belt.

SOURCE: Radiator Cooling fans pull or push air (93 Chevy Lumina 3.1 L) ?

A radiator fan is designed to pull air to pull air through the radiator to help cool it, while blowing the air on back across the engine to try to assist once again at keeping the unit running cool as to not over heat.

My 2001 Chevy Malibu won't start.. in September if

sometimes the new fuel pump goes bad, it does happen, if you disconnect the fuel line @ engine and hold it in a can or bottle, have an assistant crank engine, but do not start it, if you have gas coming out, your pump is working, careful , it will come out fast !!!!!!!!!!!! have a rag ready. now you can move on to find the real problem.

My 1995 Chevy G20 van won't start most of the time. The engine cranks and whines, but never starts.

I would be looking for fuel first a faulty fuel pump. second seeing if you have spark, bad wires or plugs or even distributor, timing could be out

1994 Chevrolet Lumina 3.1 will not start - after starting with ether runs fine.... 1994 Lumina 3.1 will not start - cranks but won't start. While cranking shoot ether into intake - starts...

Had friend put OBD diagnostics to it and error code indicated fuel pump ????? No code indicates replacing any part . Indicates testing ! pressure and flow testing , voltage drop testing the electrical circuit etc... There is a check valve in the fuel pump assembly that is suppose to keep pressure in the fuel lines an fuel rail . When the check valve goes bad allows fuel to drain back into the tank. Try turn the key on an off a few times to build up pressure . The PCM energizes the fuel pump relay for two seconds at key on .
