My car was running, then died, & won't start now. It sounds like it's gonna start but never does. I've replaced the distributor cap, roter, ignition coil, & coil wire. Still no luck.

Hi,
You need to have the cam angle and crankshaft position sensors checked. These are 2 parts which enable the ignition system to fire. If these are ok then check that the rotor in the distributor is turning when you crank the engine.
If it is not turning then you have a cambelt/chain or gear problem which you will need to repair before it will start again.
Hope this helped.
Thanks
Jason

Any chance it was the timing belt that let go or crank sensor?

put number 1 cylinder at top dead center and drop in distributor so the rotor points to number 1 on cap. may have to try several times as gear moves when lowering dist.

Whenever I had this problem, it was always cured with a new set of GOOD spark plug wires. Not generic set off the parts store shelf. Get some moisture removal spray and put it on both ends, the coil and the plug, before putting the wires on. Do one wire at a time so you do not get them mixed up. I do not think you have a distributor or a cap. If you do replace it also as it is over 20 years old.

96 blazer won't start in the rain.took to several professionals that cant fix it. works fine otherwise

Sounds like it could a bad coil. But if you wait until it does start take a spray bottle of water and while running spray the distributor cap and listen for it to start missing if does replace the distributor cap if it does'nt replace coil.
