There are a number of things
that can cause this beeping to happen. Problems in the Air Bag system, Seat
Belts, Low Fuel, door or trunk Ajar, Low Washer fluid, Parking Brake on, Going
too fast, Turn Signal On, Key-In Ignition, Exterior Lamps ON, Warning Lamp
Announcement, or Transmission Over Temperature. You can try the self test to
see if there are any codes stored in the computer, if needed. 1.
Cycle the ignition key
On - Off - On - Off - On within 5 seconds. 2.
Count the number of
times the Engine light flashes. The
number of flashes represents the code. There is a slight pause between the
flashes representing the first and second digits of the code. All codes are 2
digits. There are longer pauses separate individual two digit trouble codes.
Hi,
There are two main source of beeping sound while the car is running/moving.
The first one is the seat belts, the main seat belts are the two front seats ( driver and passenger ). The switches is located in the locking area, where you push the seat belt to release the lock,. The light signal for seat belt, is on your gauge panel, when it lights up even though you have locked the seat belt the beep will be activated. That means either the two front seat belt lock is disconnected, and you have to look for it under that lock and connect the wires.
The second one that will annoy you while driving is the door switch, check the switches and clean( lubricate ) it, located around the pillar door with a black rubber boot grommet. Sometimes it is stuck, because the switch operates when it was hit by the door and pushing a plastic rod to disable the ground wire. Check the wiring and the grounding.
It would be nice to hear some good news if my advise fixes your problem.
Hope that helps you out.
Thanks for asking FixYa!
Considering the age of the car and the history of problems with the caravan, It doesn't surprise me. As long as the the check engine light stays out and you have oil and water in the car, keep an eye on the temp gauge, you should be ok no matter what beeps. If it is just a nuisance you can't stand, i'm sure they can fix it, most people won't bother, they'll live with it. Hope this helps.
SOURCE: My 1998 Dodge Caravan will periodically beep four
usually indicates a door is open or seatbelt is undone. if no door ajar light or seatbelt light comes on when you hear the beeps then most likely the BodyControl Module has a bad circuit for that function.
